Planning in Fingal

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone would have any advice on speaking to someone about planning for a family house in North County Dublin.

Have had one consultation with [snip] but they were not too keen on taking on the project as planning seemed a bit of a barrier - but would appreciate a second opinion.

If anyone knew of another architect or planning consultant in the area that would be great.

Have a look through applications on the Fingal online planning site and you will find various agents. Have you considered a pre planning meeting with the local planners?

In fairness, [snip] probably get more applications approved in Fingal than anyone and it wouldn't really be in their interest to not want the business. Of course, contact a few others and maybe request a pre planning meeting with Fingal but I suspect you'll get a similar response. Probably based off the current council development plan 2023-2029

Whatever about the specifics - you need to establish first and foremost whether you qualify in terms of local needs.

Thanks for the reply. No, haven't had a pre planning meeting - purely because to apply for a pre planning meeting they require drawings, plans, etc. So just wanted to engage an architect or planning consultant beforehand - but perhaps it would be best to maybe acquire rudimentary drawings and plans online and use them for the pre planning meeting - is that a thing that is done?

Thanks for the response - with our previous meeting we would be fairly confident of qualifying for local needs - there are other barriers to the planning process that they were not too keen on.
