And they are perfectly entitled to love British culture. I'm sure they wouldn't mind being called west Brits.

in the east of the country Ireland has had BBC and UTV as it was at the time since the 70s at least if not earlier through cable/piped TV. People in their 50s and below grew up on everything from UK documentaries, soaps, comedies to natural history programmes, dramas no less the BBC news and current affairs offerings- all whilst RTÉ decided to Grace us with their presence around mid day and RTE2 didn’t come on till about 5pm, a good 3 or 4 hours after BBC2 started its daily broadcast- there are millions of Irish people immersed in British culture simple by having access to UK TV growing up

You make some very interesting points there. No doubt there is some element of truth to both sides interpreting the facts through their own lenses. There may be genuine grievances there for Markle who knows, but its her public actions that cast her in such a poor light. The fact that she is attempting to make money from her interpretation of the events really raises flags. That she made such a big deal about lack of privacy at the time and then has been bending over backward to get press coverage since they left the RF speaks volumes.

Your example of the lack of hug reciprocation from Kate is further supporting evidence that Markle is a narcissist IMO. She had an idea of what she wanted the RF to be, it wasn't what she wanted and Kate didn't hug her back, bang, Kate is now an enemy in Markle's eyes.

I don't understand why it's any of your business how someone who has nothing to do with us, wears their hair, what clothes they choose, what make-up they wear.

What their heritage is, makes literally no difference to the choices they make on their appearance. Why should she be expected to conform to your notion of what they should look like? The woman in the image posted has cut her hair, has ears pierced, is wearing clothes she chose to flatter herself, has makeup and jewellery on etc etc etc.

You're implying a kind of moral high ground is held by someone based on their hairstyle. What a ludicrous notion.

This series is their way of telling their story. How about the Oprah interview and Harry's book? Guess the dollars involved helps..

I agree with ya. Fierce amount of west Brits out there.

    You don't get it.

Don't preach about pride in race and or discrimination and at the same time try to look and act like you're not what you are. I don't care how she styles her hair, but you cannot have your cake and eat it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,768 ✭✭✭notAMember

    No, you don't get it.

Race is nothing to do with your clothes or hairstyle. She doesn't have to "look" the same as your stereotype version of an african american. No-one does.

Christ, Megxit happened 3 years ago.

A whole 2 years of a global pandemic has passed us by with about half a million people dead and they are still harping on about someone in the royal family wondering what colour skin their baby would have or that nobody asked her how she was or that Kate didn't reciprocate a fxxkin hug.

    Seriously, get over yourselves!

I don't believe she is a narcissist though because that's a serious psychological personality disorder that gets thrown around alot.

Certainly feelings of shame and un met longing can cause a lashing out.."I never wanted to be your friend anyway now get fúcked"..kind of thing.

So narcissistic like tendencies may exist.

Something I found very odd was when Meghan was talking about the appropriate clothes to wear and not knowing what was what. I thought she would have had advisors for that and it not being left to Harry.

Her outfits in the documentary were perfectly curated I think, the interview bits I mean. Soft and subtle. I doubt very much she has no sense of the power of clothes.

She was provided with a dossier of guidance by palace officials on a lot of things including clothes; she referred in the interview around the fact that she wasn’t allowed wear similar colours to other more senior members of the RF- which makes total sense as you don’t want to be clashing with a similar outfit to someone like the Queen -like imagine if Princess Anne, the Queen and Kate all wore a red dress to the same event? Morto ya would be!😛

-but she made a big issue out of this- and like how many times a year are the RF pictured all together? Very few times so that in itself was a non story- besides those occasions she could darn well wear what she wanted to wear

I’ve never heard an intelligent person say west Brit

It’s quite astonishing to read all the expert opinions in this thread. Within the last week alone was labelled a narcissist, psychopathic narcissist, narcissistic psychopath alone.

You don't need to be an expert to know what narcissism is. It's amazing how people like yourself think that we all need degrees to come to a conclusion about something that's fairly obvious.

“The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone else. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill--he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it.”- ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

It amazes me still that anonymous internet (mostly) males can diagnose mental health disorders in women whilst at the same never actually having met them.

It's quite the skill, makes the paid professionals redundant really.

    🤷‍♂️

Apparently if you watch Strictly Come Dancing or enjoy reading The Times magazines at the weekend, you’re a “West Brit” according to some posters here. 😂😂😂

Is there a reason why Megan kept her title ? If she hates them why not give it up ?

Also is the comment that they lied & protected my brother but not me a nudge/ hint towards the rumour of the pegging that have been around since the summer on twitter ,

Just me or does Megan speak exactly like Wendy form Ozark, probably the reason i just don't believe anything she says ,

True. The hug refusal/ reciprocation = narcissist formula is watertight.

Indeed. There are actually 5 types of narcissism. How anyone can come to a diagnosis of a person who is a stranger to them I'll never know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,242 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Yes, but you find it bizarre that Irish people could have an interest or admire British culture. If so, there must be a Sh1t load a bizarre people in Ireland. I don’t find it at all bizarre. It’s pretty much quite normal and natural human behaviour.

Ireland and England/Britain are extremely closely intertwined and linked for many many many years. Bizarre does not come into it

bizarre to me is Irish people feeling the need to not show any liking/appreciation/interest in English/British culture, despite them being immersed in it anyway.

It's mad Irish people would have family in USA, UK, AUS possibly Canada direct ties to these countries. Yet some want to ignore that.

So? What does it matter? Those of us who have put forth that opinion gave some of our reasons why we think it to be the case. This isnt a court of law and we are not expert witnesses. You are correct, we are giving an opinion.

I am as entitled to think she is a narcissist just as much as you are entitled to think that she isnt. Boards is a discussion forum. You know, for discussion.

If you don't think she is a narcissist feel free to provide examples to back up your claim. You are trying to shut down certain opinions that you dont like with sneering, sarky comments. Why not provide a useful comment? Come on, give me your counter points as to why you think she isnt a narcissist.

And you dont know my background. You dont know what I do or do not know about narcissism ( I know there are different classifications of narcissists but for simplicities sake Ive not gone into that. The umbrella term works pretty well.). Ive mentioned a fair few times that I've dealt with narcissists very close to home, for a long time. There are a few other people in this thread that have also indicated as much and it seems to me, that we can recognise some red flags with Markle pretty easily. Of course we have not done an assessment on her and Im sure we will never know who is right, but this whingy sarky commenting is just a waste of everyones time.

There’s a good chance the Tory’s might demand the royals to do what they have to do to end this quickly

    coz let’s face it , it’s a national embarrassment
