Marriage registration - passport

Amateur hour here..

Booked our registration appointment a while back and it’s quite soon. Discovered partners passport is out of date. They’ve applied but most likely won’t have it in time.

We have birth certs and drivers licenses as alternatives. Will they suffice?

Irish online passport renewals are currently taking 10 days, sometimes much quicker.

In date driver's license is grand I believe. You need the birth cert and bring along a proof of address.

We have done this but don’t think the passport will come on time.

We’ve also tried to contact the office but it being a HSE organisation, it isn’t an easy place to get through to.

I was in there last Tuesday for the same reason. Second time to come in as some documentation errors the first time (wasn't my fault for a change).

Really good experience and nice people. Helpful and welcoming.

I did online passport renewal, submitted it all on the Wednesday lunch time and it all arrived the following day. Wow a government service that actually works I was gobsmacked!

Trying to get our appointment booked was the most stressful part of the process, the amount of inaccurate information I was given between the Navan & Dublin registrations office was eye watering.

Got there in the end after about 68 phone calls and emails. Hopefully you get all the documents in time!

Sorry to drag up this thread but we are getting married next year and I will a drivers license be ok for ID? I have a passport but it’s in my old name spelling (I changed the spelling last year and need 2 years proof of use before I can change it on the passport but drivers license was changed last year)

Bring all those documents and if you did one, your deed poll. Bring other supporting evidence - pay slips, utility bills, etc. Convince them. It might be useful to email them in advance to see if they have specific advice in such cases.
