My god the handball rule is so f-ing broken

How the **** is meant to take his arm away

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,882 ✭✭✭TheCitizen

Can't see why that's a handball when the earlier one isn't. I think both were handballs, but the constant rule changes just leaves everyone confused including the officials.

He'll be there best singing since Fergie left ,

The rules might be simple but they've always been inherently ambiguous and subjective in some areas. Now we get to rewatch incidents from ten different angles through VAR and just TV analysis we can see that it is impossible to come to a definitive judgement on some of them. Is there 'enough contact' here to justify a penalty? Does Kane initiate the contact? Toss a coin...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,954 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Personally i think its penalty all day every day ,

Pickford's reaction tells you everything he & the Everton defenders accept the decision ,On the first reply on sky you clearly see Pickford misses the ball & his head bangs into Kane's hip .

Kane makes sure to fall over but its 100% a penalty & its all Pickford's fault ,

Nothing in that Henderson - Gabriel incident then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,110 ✭✭✭jacool

From the FA statement "The FA is entirely satisfied that the allegation was made in good faith"

It's an interesting dilemma, in that you have to have a mechanism there for players to report, but there is no repercussion then when, as in this case, there isn't anything. There is usually the "there's-no-smoke-without-fire" brigade, lining up to have a pop at Henderson, (Twitter had lots of this - why are all the Brazilain players meeting there at the end. It must be about Henderson, etc.!!) although the footballer's union all came out in support of him. It seems like only Gabriel thought he heard whatever he heard. You'd hope he'll apologise to Henderson.

Not just Twitter there was one poster in here who came in a posted that picture and implied they that they knew the Brazilians were taking about Henderson.

And some wanting to just throw away all the off the field work done by Henderson in terms of inclusivity etc because some bad people did charity work years ago.

To be fair, no they didn’t. They said they guessed it was about Henderson - at no time did they say they knew it was about Henderson. Very different things.

They are implying they know it could be a inquest into Henderson.

As usual it's just that poster posting more rubbish as awlays

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 35,111 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Adding the word “know” is quite disingenuous there, no one said they KNEW it was about Henderson, they actually just suggested it COULD BE about Henderson.

those are just two very different things… they made no claim to inside knowledge or declaration of certainty, and instead just suggested a reasonable enough possibility.

now, the rights and wrongs of discussing conjecture is another question entirely, I’m just clarifying that the poster didn’t claim anything as fact and just raised a possibility.

How do you make out that its rubbish ? where is your prrof that its rubbih,

Not sure if you ever played sport or just watch Wrestling but it would be absolutely normal in then to be discussing a major talking point form the game,

Infact id go as far as saying you'd be mad to think the 4 Brazilian lads would not speak about it,

The fact Henderson was found innocent of any wrong doing does not mean they lads where not speaking about it at full time,

Again you must reference me in every post, If you have a issues just send me a private message & let me know what it is,

PGMOL are bringing Bobby Madley back for Premier League games after he was sacked in 2018 for mocking a disabled person.

He then moved to Norway to ref there.

He was rehired by PGMOL in 2020 has been working his way back up the leagues since then working in league 1 & 2 and got back to the Championship this season and he will ref this weekends game between Brentford & Wolves.

Doubt he’ll ref that game, surely he’s not allowed anywhere near Wolves anymore?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Referee: Robert Madley. Assistants: Marc Perry, Timothy Wood. Fourth official: Thomas Bramall. VAR: Peter Bankes. Assistant VAR: Harry Lennard.

Man U have been charged by the FA for the second time in three games for failing to control there players.

'Manchester United FC has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20.1 after its fixture versus Chelsea FC on Saturday 22 October 2022 in the Premier League.

'Manchester United allegedly failed to ensure that its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion in the 84th minute, and the club has until Friday 28 October 2022 to provide a response.'

They were charged 8 days ago for the home game against Newcastle as well.

This is the biggest blight in football - and every team is at it.

This one is comical because Bruno F admitted he didn't see it, but complained anyway, and if McT had a shred of decency, he should have said "Lads, they got me." As I say though, it is every single team. Man. City were at it when the "goal" vs Liverpool was going to be investigated. Bernardo Silva and Pep were at the ref. I actually thought Pep should have been booked. These lads are seriously divorced from reality and don't seem to think that they have to respect the officials at all. A rule needs to be introduced saying that only the captain can approach the ref, anyone else gets booked. I understand there is an issue when it's your keeper, and he's at the opposite end of the pitch, but I don't see any other way to end this behavioural intimidation of the officials.

Bruno probably gets away with it as he is the Man United captain and so is the 'designated referee speaker'.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,952 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Brunos PPG are currently 3.6, RPPG are 5.3. Clearly getting through a lot of work.

    PPG - Pressures per game

RPPG - Ref Pressures per game

Is Haaland injured? If so it would give Arsenal a serious lift to keep it going for another wee while.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,677 ✭✭✭doc_17

Barnes and Maddison make really poor decisions at times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,807 ✭✭✭Dave0301

They should mic the refs up like in rugby and start to charge players and hand out suspensions for abusing officials. Hopefully it would impact on player sponsorship deals as well if they are recorded swearing and going mental.

It can easily be tackled if the FA/FIFA want to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 164 ✭✭slumdogemillionaire

wow, cant get better free kick than that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,677 ✭✭✭doc_17

I’m no lip reader but it looks like Vardy just told the ref to f* off twice there. I don’t care what level you’re at, should be an instant red.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 14,033 ✭✭✭✭machiavellianme

If that ever comes about, the game is truly dead. They are two of the most natural words to come out of many footballer's mouths. The level of swearing in a match is astonishing.

He tripped over himself. As usual. The most fouled player in football, yet with the least amount of force felt.

Running in the direction of the ref and shouting it repeatedly is entirely different than saying it after you’ve made a mistake or maybe said to another player.
