I'm surprised it wasn't Alex Jones, but I suppose he's got his own problems to worry about right now.

Having MTG on a hypothetical Trump ticket would be real 'Dark MAGA' shít. I was always told that having Pence as a running mate was about appealing to the more conservative Republicans, i.e. your Hank Hill types. MTG would be a bad sign that Trump just wants to breathe pure fire.

Not to mention that MTG would become president if Trump won and died in office, which given his age and lifestyle is a possibility. There is no chance that swing voters would vote for that possibility.

What now for Trump? Another round of lawyers brought in to sue the committee?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,683 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

No I think they should lean into it. Let her go **** nuts. After 5 or 6 days most of their own base will be asking her to find a replacement.

I have never heard it pronounced MAGA to be honest.

Trump trying to get the "Trump that B*tch" image out of his own rallies just ahead of a looming criminal indictment

How much you want to bet in the near future Trump will try a whole dog and pony, Humble Pie routine, even maybe admit to being wrong about a few pointless things to be wrong about in order to, ultimately, make voir dire an historic nightmare to perform.

If "Grandma" has been attending all of Trump's rallies to date, she's already seen some serious sh*t.

    From the GOP Twitter account.

They literally posted this as they rail against education institutes and norms, ban a raft of books from schools across the country and as they continue to demonize the educated in scientific and medical fields.

    It really beggars belief.

Given the previous post to this one that I just posted, this makes it even more bizarre.

It's absolutely astoundingly incredible that two charlatans who got power, made a pigs ear of it and are reaching for it again in the manner that Trump and Johnson in the UK are doing.

When we heard of things like this happening throughout history, we put it down to the lack of awareness of the general public of just what their leader had been like. That was partly due to the lack of transparency in to just what they said and how they behaved due to the comparatively non-existent communication compared to what we have now.

There is no such excuse in 2022 and I for one can't understand how so many people remain so ignorant.

I think most of what we're seeing is a phenomenon where a huge assembly of people are wittingly comfortable with embracing the same lie for the sake of political control. And for every one of them there are manyfold more people who simply trust such people at what they say, and enough people perpetuating the lies wittingly mean there are throngs of people who have an entire ecosystem of 'trustworthy sources etc' all telling them the exact same shyte, all of them with the exact same conflict of interest.

    Good point.

Perhaps, the benefit of the increase in resources, which should mean people can get the facts, is countered by the misinformation produced by the very same resources.

Of all the most ridiculous and outrageously false things said at a trump rally over the last 6 or so years, *this* is the most unbelievable...

Bob Woodward is publishing a new hardcopy, RAGE - the guts of the Trump Tapes as recorded by Woodward - he left tape recorders lying around his house. Trump was "drowning in himself" in interview, and Trump thought of the US Presidency as "A Trophy"

There is a continuously-mounting pile of evidence and testimony like this which damns Trump as an amoral charlatan, but it may not matter for two reasons - 1. Trump's supporters are living in a completely different reality where anything bad about him is A) a deep state lie, B) taken out of context or C) something they actually quite like.

and 2. The very real possibility that the authorities will hesitate to make a firm prosecution out of any of this stuff, given the tensions currently existing within the United States. And if the authorities do hesitate, it will only give credence, in Trump supporters' eyes, to the idea that all the stuff was made up to politically assassinate Trump.

Question: "Do you think Trump will actually appear for the deposition?"

Pelosi: "I don't think he is man enough to show up."

Will the pathetic coward prove her wrong? We all know the answer to that.

And if the authorities do hesitate

No 'If' here, authorities have been procrastinating since Jan 6th with respect to everything that happened then, and has come out since.

Pelosi apparently had to be convinced to pursue impeachment of Trump for inciting the insurrection.

If anyone else had been found to have taken top secret documents, they'd be charged first and then the detailed investigation would follow. I think they've already missed the timeframe where they could argue that they weren't doing so because of political motivations, the time to do that was immediately after the docs were discovered (and they should have been discovered sooner also given it was known they were there). Republicans would still scream blue murder but the logic would have carried much more weight than publicly disclosing so much about what happened and what was found, without actually charging him.

Trump's Kara Lake being questioned on the integrity of democracy under a Lake Governorship

Karl doesn't call her up on this: she claims the Constitution stipulates "election day, not election season, not election month"

How is it the Gubernatorial Candidate has not read the Constitution (Art I sec. IV) ; By 1792, federal law permitted each state legislature to choose Presidential electors any time within a 34-day period

But it 'sounds good' right, so catchy that John Karl was even stupefied by it. And hardly the only shyte thrown about by Lake in this interview. That's the power of telling dozens of lies confidently.

If she gets a hold of AZ it will be a disaster.

Trump: Journalists who didn't do anything illegal should be imprisoned and raped to reveal their confidential sources!

MAGA: WOO! YEAH! Finally someone who cares about justice and the Constitution! What a hero!

I wonder sometimes how people who support him came to this point.

Was there an intolerance to his criminality/deviancy built up over time? Did they "just" support him at the outset, and then each time a scandal broke, did they double down and dig themselves a little deeper? Did they then reach the point of apparent no return and now, come what may, they will defend them/support him in private regardless?

Or were they always going to be his steadfast supporter from the start, happy in the knowledge from that early stage of what he was like?

His redhats won't care. If the Trump org would vanish from the face of the earth tomorrow, they wouldn't care. Nor would TFG as long as the $$ and rubles keep rolling in.

Oh I think he would care.

The "Brand" is hugely important to him.

I mean , when the charges came down last month and he needed to set up another entity to potentially shift assets around to avoid losing them in litigation the name he came up with was "The Trump Organisation 2"

His name and brand are central to his feeling of self-worth - His narcissism wouldn't allow him to create a company that didn't have his name on it.

Who in their right mind would turn up to a kangaroo court ?

All Trump has to do is delay his appearance until January by which time Nancy will be out of power and the committee dissolved.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,381 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

You were informed that McCarthy was given the option to participate and he declined.

You were informed there are republicans on the committee.

You were informed those that gave evidence were republicans.

You chose to disregard these facts.

It appears that in your mind, a "kangaroo court" is any process that doesn't have a biased Trump appointed judge running interference for him.

McCarthy put forward 5 candidates but Pelosi rejected 2 so he pulled all 5.

The 2 Republicans on the committee, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzingers, are you serious ?

    They are both Rinos.

I will give you some facts, Trump wont be testifying and the Committe will be dissolved in January.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,114 ✭✭✭✭Leroy42

McCarthy could have had 3 GOP in the panel, but threw his toys out of the pram when he didn't get everything he wanted. So the shortage of GOP reps is purely down to a decision he made.

But if, as you claim Mister, the investigation is nothing more than a Kangaroo court, who decides on that? Is it purely down to having a majority on the jury?

Do all defendants get to decide whether they believe any particular court is a Kangaroo court or is it limited to simply Trump deciding which part of the system he trusts?

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 16,969 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

I've said it before , but it's worth repeating.

A Cheney is being called a RINO.... a f*cking CHENEY!!!

Like most of the words that Trump uses , RINO doesn't mean what it used to (or is supposed to).

RINO means - Doesn't completely prostrate themselves at the alter of Trump.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,036 ✭✭✭✭Penn

Pelosi rejected two because they were implicated or were potential witnesses in the crimes under investigation. McCarthy could have named other candidates in their place. He chose not to, and to pull the other members from the Committee.

Should persons implicated in a crime serve on a Committee investigating that crime?

I think that many of Trump's fanboys think that basic principles of justice such as Nemo iudex should only apply to the Dems 😉

That Trump probably can never be judged fairly because he is divinely anointed and answers to some higher power or some other such BS.

The perfect storm of civil cases and criminal indictments that are gathering? Will IMO steamroll him. The US needs to reassert the simple truth that no man is above the law and act accordingly.
