Tara Kumar said she left to move to the UK.

Stephen Byrne said he chose to leave because he had been working in RTE since he was in transition year.

Chris and Ciara are a mystery though

Please Lottie Ryan....But you know shes going to be doing the entertainment "news" till shes retirement age - where every other station just gets the news reader to do it..

and i wouldnt be crying for the awful breakfast show with the al porter wannabe and Dempseys god child to be changed again

Kumar might have something going on in London, but you'd have expected to have landed a DJ job on a local London station.

Byrne may have been working there since transition year, but you'd again think he'd have something planned.

Did they all get the same shaft as Louise McSharry but decided to quietly go.

@[Deleted User] She's a stand in for Jenny Z, their main mid-morning show! Considering the amount of holidays that RTÉ stars get she alone could cause a further fall for Jenny Z!

Notice how RTÉ are throwing everything at 2FM presenters or contributors.

I honestly cant remember the last time I listened to 2FM. There was a time It was "The" station to listen to. Apart from Jenny Greene , Tracey Clifford and Doireann and Carl, Is or does anyone on 2fm have a Radio back round ?

Also is Dave Fanning still there ?

The search for new Dancing With The Stars presenters over the past few years just seem to be solely looking at what female is available on 2 FM in the mornings.

Dave Fanning is on weekends from 1pm to 3pm. 2FM is certainly not my go to station but I must check that show out if I get a chance (and I remember!). Dan Hegarty, Cormac Battle and Mr. Spring, aka Tim Hannigan, all came from pirates. The latter goes back to the late 1980s with BLB. Blathnaid Treacy was previously with Spin1038.

surely Laura Fox will get a look in soon, she would fit in with the look

She's absolutely worse than Zamparelli which is some feat as shes awful as well - is it just me or do they have difficulty getting decent/interesting/big name guests for her show, like majority of show is her talking to the RTE correspondents, or the staff in 2fm compared to Today fm at the same

Why are 2FMs shows so short at the weekend?

Today Fm have five from 8am until midnight.

2fm have eight from 7am until 11pm. They have a different presenter on every two hours and most of them sound the same so it can’t be a case of they’re trying to provide variety for different audiences

Because nobody listens to 2FM, have they any relevance left at all?

One place the station doesn't seem to be doing great these days is Dublin. Radio Nova has a bigger share of the listenership there. It seems like 2FM kind of waned here in the capital with the rise of the local stations.

They were even taken off the Port Tunnel system and replaced by Spin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 238 ✭✭turbocab

got replaced with a station thats also chasing a youth audience that no longer listen to fm radio.

Well, I don't think there is a good Internet signal in tunnels funnily enough

    This too shall pass.

I remember Adrian Kennedy saying that 2FM never really recovered from the loss of Gerry Ryan.

"He was a Dub and the Gerry Ryan Show was huge in Dublin."

So listening briefly to RTÉ 2fm but why is Ms Ryan still on the station. She bring absolutely nothing to the station. And I am sorry but you might be offended by the following criticism of Ms Ryan but: -

    1. Her voice is grating
    2. She bring no knowledge of anything to her reports when they are only entertainment reports.
    3. She's been with them 10 years at least and nothing has stuck

My issue with ms Ryan is she has a role an interim would do but some how they find it appropriate the she does it.

ive seen she gets 80k a year, (on reddit - not sure if true but with RTE wouldn't surprise me) for what the news reader/intern could do....ffs she's awful when she's covering Zamparelli (which is an achievement in itself) and you can tell The 2 johnnies find her irritating/want her off quickly when she rambles on about reality show nonsense and you can tell she forms her opinions from the gobby offended minority on twitter...sure she's probably a nice person , but shes not cut out for it after being given shows and not sticking

And christ Zamparelli was like a child saying "have a sausage" about 50 times today in her show....we get it JZ your permanently randy, take a shower ffs.

Whomever told the morning crew Doireanns impressions and the camp guy's songs are funny should have their head examined

@[Deleted User] as some FC actors are on 4,500 for each week they work I wouldn't be surprised if she was on more.

Any excuse to remind us she was let go, to get pity from people.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,489 ✭✭✭RoTelly

Was she got rid of twice? I assumed she largely moved to 2FM along with Dan Healy at the time or around the same time.

and spectacularly failing every time...its a year now, Time to move on,,, doesnt look good with prospective employers

Are any of us surprised though. If you talk out you're not going to get a job anywhere else. I saw Chris Greene pop up on TG4 on some talent show the other day judging it. So he's on tv anyway.

Yeah we are wonder if Chris and Ciara are staff. Ciara has present Late Date on Radio 1 (how quickly they get old!).

Junior Eurovision is part of the 1 of programming that RTÉ give to TG4 each year, its produce for RTÉ by Adara for TG4..... or at least it was, looks like it is an Adara production for TG4 this year.

So they just move them around RTE? Not a bad life tbf. I enjoyed their show, listened to them when I was living in Galway in my 20s on iRadio so they felt familiar I guess. I found the weekends the only thing I could listen to on 2fm but now you can't tell who is who. Everytime I tune in its a different person.

"We've got a jam packed show for you coming up. I've got a 100euro Just Eat voucher to give away..."

I think that's the introduction to all shows on 2FM these days. At least the weekend shows that I heard over the last while.
