The lead up to Klopp seeing red..... how can any ref say Salah wasn't fouled....repeatedly in fact. Truly abysmal.

I presume its the total points that teams can end up with at the end of the season given teams have played a different number of matches.

If Liverpool beat West Ham during the week, there'll be 7 points between them with 10 games played each. Still far from a title race, but at least it's touching distance. And with Arsenal now 4 points clear at the top, and Spurs in position to go 3 points ahead of City on Wednesday if they can beat Utd (tough ask admittedly), things might at least be interesting going into the second half of the season after the World Cup. I'd take that to be honest, as I was expecting City to have it all but assured when that break rolls around.

The irony of Pep talking about truth and reality, his lack of self awareness is something else.

Liverpool were 14 points behind City in January of last season and got title race down to the last game of the season.

I wouldn't right them off yet.

This world cup and break will play a big part in the season yet.

Allison has provided more assists in 2022 in the league than Jack Grealish.

I didn't deny Salah was world class but I know who I'd rather have in my team and he's not from Egypt. When Salah was the same age as haaland he was in the swiss league. Haaland is a phenomenon.

    He really is.

But come back when Haaland is still doing it at Salah's age. Longevity is an important factor.

Ah lads, Haaland is world class. Salah is also world class. Haaland has been world class from an earlier age (possible burnout later in his career?), while Salah has been world class from a later age (late developer? didn't do enough in his younger years?).

People are different, growing and learning at different ages. PSG would love to have both of them in their side.

He's a nasty piece of work, tried to throw his elbow back before donkey kicking at Salah. He's the first to throw himself to the ground if there is any coming together and is all gob during games. Started today's game jumping dangerously into Robertson when he was in the air and more or less defenceless, got away with it of course thanks to Mr Taylor.

He's a classless player, very talented no doubt but has no class.

Klopp asked MOTD to look at the Silva foul, kick & elbow on Salah and MOTD said no we don't have time to look at that.

What's with Newcastle and their horrible time-wasting tactics? I don't remember Howe's Bournemouth doing that? But from what I've seen of them this season, and again today, they're worse than Simeone's Atletico.

Maybe he's figured people are gonna hate them no matter what they do so they might as well act like cúnts.

Ref gave a few bizarre ones in their favour too. Stopped the game once when they had continued an attack with one of their players down and when United got the ball back he stopped the game immediately. Was a very strange refereeing performance.

There was no need for Klopp to react the the way he did.

Really is bunched up on the fringe of relegation there. I couldn't say for definite any of those teams (or indeed Leicester) will be in the mix at the end of the season. Probably be after the World Cup before things start to seriously take shape down there...

Martial scored twice against city 2 weeks ago, does that make him twice the player salah?

Did liverpool have some games in hand when they were 14 points behind last season? Also Liverpool are not just that amount of points behind man city, they are also that amount of points behind spurs, chelsea and arsenal.

The first player to commit a bookable offence was Rodri, who fouled to stop a quick Liverpool breakaway. When Taylor didn't book him, all bets were off.

As regards Silva - with himself and Bruno in the Portugal WC squad, I'll be hoping for an early exit for them, if only to cut down on the moaning.

Had to laugh at MOTD brushing over one of the big talking points as it proves Klopp was right to go crazy, but he can't do what he did ant not expect a red card, but would not have happened if the officials did their job.

Totally odd for them to avoid talking about it. Klopp and Pep are equal opportunities moaners bit cant see why they didnt include a minute or two on a major talking point. Will klopp have an automatic touchline ban now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,035 ✭✭✭✭citytillidie

Just can't be on the touch line I think on Wednesday night

I think Bamford acting like a sniper took him out probably mitigated that reversal tbh. I'm not sure what the linesman was watching anyways to give a penalty in the first place. Both were acting the clown, ref should have just given them both a yellow and got on with the game.

The odd thing is that Klopp was totally justified going mad about that decision, as it was an awful one. But as he admitted himself, he went too far and crossed the line so deserved to be sent off.

So many of the big in-game moments came down to bad refereeing. Firstly Taylor gave a goal kick instead of a corner when Ederson saved 1v1 on Salah. Ederson went down to waste time and then directly from the goal kick, Haaland tussled with Fabinho and the referee waved play on, which I actually thought was fine in real time. But then he also allowed Haaland to foul Alisson while he had his hand on the ball and let that go when it should not have.

There were 2 or 3 fouls on Salah that escaped a free kick, let alone a booking from Rodri & Silva. Silva kicked out at Salah during this last incident and then also pushed other players away, which some referees are very happy to show cards for. Silva still escaped a card. It's easy to see why Klopp lost it at this point.

It was a terrible performance from the officials, and made all the more galling by the likes of Neville singling them out for praise not just during the game, but after the fact.

Doubling down on that as well with himself and Tyler's wankcast afterwards.

The one decision that was right, the VAR call, was the only sign of any kind of functionality in the system - and, instead, that got a 15min grilling over from those football intellectuals, Richards and Carragher. Shocking, but predictable, level of analysis.

Greenwood has been remanded to prison and had his application for bail denied by the judge.

Next court appearance will be at the end of November.
