Is there a chance we'll get a non-LFP battery in the RWD MY??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 438 ✭✭mc2022B2TF

Go for it. Definitely worth it in your case. I know someone who went from a 2019 performance to a MYLR too and they love it.

You could buy the acceleration boost on the LR though.

    And I don't mean to offend anyone saying I don't like it's looks but I really don't.

    We don’t know yet.

”Germany is doing homologation for Model Y structural pack globally. That’ll be ready Q1 but I have no idea if our cars will come from there in the short term”

Thats a quote from someone more intune than me on the FB Group.

I hope they reduce the price of the MYLR to qualify for the grant. 14k difference is huge between SR and LR. The SR will claim a good chunk of market share at the current price, as will the LR if it lands under 60k with the grant.

I'm holding for the LR price drop to pull the trigger.🤞

I’m in exactly the same boat as you now.

I got a trade in price of my 2020 M3P (White on White with EAP) of €56,050 this week from Tesla (car cost me €55,200 in March)

In theory I can jump into a 231 MY and get money back (depending on car values next March). Which I’ve already done with my 2 previous MSP’s.

    Do I order a colour? Blue/grey?

Or do I order white interior on white paint again??

Tough choice I have to say!

They won’t. It can’t be done as it would mean the LR is the same price as the RWD.

RWD range test details at 100kph for anyone interested.

What is interesting is the 51.6 kWh useable battery size. Isint this what’s being debated in the M3 thread currently.

Surely they will drop the M3 RWD price as it is now the exact same price as the MY RWD. I had speculated on this only last week, and might finally put a deposit on a new M3 RWD if it comes down enough, now that I can afford it. Either way, there will be lots of M3 SR+ and M3 RWD trade-ins, so their used inventory will need a price drop to shift product....

Colour is a subjective choice, in my 8k km trip through Europe this summer, I parked close to all colours Model Ys at superchargers. None of them impressed me enough to want to change from white. All non white colours IMO lack the pop, if not in absolutely perfect conditions (car has to be sparkly clean, and sunny outside), whereas the white still pops IMO and when getting closer it gets even better with the sparkly pearls that looks good in sunshine and especially at night under artificial light, it has a 'frozen' look.

I haven't tried the white interior before, that's why I'm getting it this turn, but only you know if it's worth it to you. Since I don't like any other colour better than white on Teslas, it was an easy choice for me.

Just bought one as well. Was very tempted to order 2 and punt one if the prices pop again buy Feb or Mar or just lie the loss of the €250 deposit.

The WLPT range and 0-60 is advertised today as it was pre the price drop so it would lead me to believe that the battery is the same - therefore LFP MIC Car.

Who knows though - it would be great to get an explanation of why the price has changed so dramatically from Tesla and that there has been no spec change - but either way they will sell a shed load of them

The €250 can be refunded under the distance selling laws so no risk there.

You wouldn't be the first person in Ireland to make a few grand driving their brand new Tesla straight to a grey market dealer on delivery day 😁

Is the interior space much bigger particularly rear seat legroom?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 41,426 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

Rear leg room is about 4 inches bigger I believe.

looks a lot more comfortable in the back than the M3 or MX, was watching a lad on YouTube earlier who was 6-5 and the Y was a clear winner between the 3, the cargo space practicality will be a big plus if I can land it without losing my shirt on the trade also the ease of fitting a hitch for bikes would be great

Can i ask - so what is the price im paying? 54k or 49k after savings? Im confused. What figure will the pcp be based on?

ill be ordering on 3 years pcp asap but i need to talk to them as pcp not available online

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,376 ✭✭✭Thumper Long

54K the other figure is Tesla fairytale for how much you could save on fuel but you still have to pay 54K same as the M3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,114 ✭✭✭✭unkel

€53k is the price you pay for the car on the road in white

    It was €65k yesterday

We do realise what this likely means, do we? The Model Y is roughly a €60k car (all rough simplified figures here not to muddy the waters with VAT / VRT calculations). This means if you make it in China and bring it into the EU, you will pay 10% or €6k import duty. Also it's probably about €1k more to transport from China to here instead of from ... Germany....

€65k yesterday - €6k import duty we don't be any more - €5k subsidy we do get now - €1k less transport cost = €53k

Conclusion: these cars must come from Germany

I’d be fairly sick if I’d paid 12k more for a 221 or 222. Wonder what this means for the m3..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,994 ✭✭✭Spipov

Is that a good thing? Whats the better thing of it coming from germany? I thought i saw someone write there were better benefits/specs/build?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,114 ✭✭✭✭unkel

When the Model Y launched earlier this year it was €73k. So €20k more for a 221 or 222, although that was the LR AWD model. Plenty of people were happy to pay that and got their cars

I doubt more than a handful of this RWD sold for the €65k it has been for the last few weeks. And even so, people could just cancel their order and get a new one.

Saw a you tube video of a guy comparing both. Marginal differences in things like stitching. Suspension is supposedly better. Not sure if that has been conclusively determined. I guess there’s a perception of better built German car..

Thanks! obviously we would love german builds. looks like a jan-feb 23 delivery date. i need to pop down to tesla to order with pcp. my issue is my current older car needs its nct in november, and needs money (worth more than its worth) - and i dont know what to do. its a pain to put money in then giving it away in january (trading it in to tesla - its worth nothing anywhere else and 1500 to them)...
