Help was brilliantly well done but a very tough watch. Jodie Comer outstanding as usual.

Dahmer was as I expected from Ryan Murphy. Dark, long and intense.

No one could of played him like Evan Peters,he was the star of American horror story and it's suffered without him. So so underrated

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,154 ✭✭✭cdgalwegian

With such high praise, sounds more like he's little known- but really should be - rather than underrated.

This kinda thing isn't really up my street, more like maybe a side alley, but on the strength of this guy's (ac)claimed performance, I think I'll check it out.

I watched Blonde last night - almost 3 hours of pure misery. I don't mind the odd depressing film but if you're going to go all out misery then please keep it to 90 minutes.

Dahmer was excellent, agreed it was the best thing I've seen on Netflix in a good while. Have found myself watching Netflix less the last few months as it has been poor, but this is up there with some of their classic content.

Saw the Athena recommendation here and gave it a go. It was a decent watch, an interesting topic and visually very appealing. Story was only OK though, have seen better movies set in the French banlieus. For anyone familiar with the music of 'The Blaze' I felt like this was like a 90 minute Blaze video (not a bad thing), funnily enough one of the main characters in the movie was in one of their music videos.

Help was a good watch but very sad, probably the first thing I have really watched about the pandemic so it was interesting. Would imagine it could hit very hard for anyone who maybe lost someone or worked in the front line over the past 2 years.

Dunno, I guess Netflix didn't want to risk a turnover and blow their chances of making the play offs...wait a minute!

I remember the story being very short. You could almost fit the thing into a 20m anthology series and it wouldn’t be out of place. Very odd to pick that one From If It Bleeds to make a feature length from.

True but from a quick Google...all the stories from that book are optioned for films (bar possibly, if it bleeds - I am guessing it is mixed up with the rights to the outsider - now sadly canceled by the looks of it - cracking TV show btw).

I have seen it recommended here a few times but I am in agreement on extraordinary attorney woo. It's basically the good doctor mixed with ally mc beal.

Very light and soppy but also really watchable.

Not sure how a reported US remake would do though tbh...

Looking forward to The Midnight Club, I have really enjoyed Flanagan's TV output and found it to be a better fit for his storytelling sensibility.

Yay, a reboot of The Mole. I know there are plenty here who have little time for Netflix's Reality output but I appreciate the standard of their output so far.

Watched Help last night. Drama starring Stephen Graham, set in a nursing home at the beginning of the C19 outbreak. Starts really strong and continues until about 15 minutes from the end when it takes a ridiculous turn. Up til then though it was a really well acted movie and Graham was as brilliant as ever as a patient with early onset alzeimers. A number of well known faces are in it so it does pack a bit of an emotional punch when the shyt hits the fan.

    6/10

Just finished Cobra Kai season 5 and even though at the end of season 4 I thought the show was done, the story had been told and there was no milk to be got from this particular cow, but for me this was the best season yet. Terry Silver was a great bad guy, Thomas Ian Griffith carried himself with a genuine air of menace. Kreese was scary dude back in the day but lets be honest, he cant do it physically any more, that much is obvious, but Terry silver looked like he could break you up. Johnny, as always is great, I dont know how William Zabka hasnt won an emmy or Golden globe at this stage. But for me the standout of the season was Chozen. Yuji Okumoto did an amazing job playing another former bad guy who'd been redeemed and now was using his skills for something good. Anyway I dont know where its gonna go from here but I'll be on board for sure.

Couldn't even finish the first episode of 'Midnight Club'.. awful muck!

    That Irish actress is desperate!

Mike Flanagan's movies are always solid yet only "Hill House" has impressed me series-wise on Netflix.

Edit: Actually didn't finish "Midnight Mass".. was that worthwhile? Bly Manor was poor!

In fairness I think the midnight club is aimed at a different audience than his other stuff (younger based on the book). The Irish actress was a bit jarring to me at first but in fairness she is a complete newbie to acting, did a decent job in episode 2 (she has a lot to do in it). It probably doesn't help that the character is initially anyway absolutely bloody hateful.

Midnight mass is amazing imo improved as it went along....better than Hill House. Bly Manor was a miss alright.

4 episodes into the midnight club and it’s way too childish for my liking. It’s basically that kids show Goosebumps. The Irish character is very annoying. Nothing scary in it, I picked the wrong thing to watch in lead up to Halloween. Dunno if I can stick this one out. I must watch midnight mass.
