General Premier League Thread 2022-23 - mod note in OP 12/03/23

A brilliant player at his best, but let's be honest, he'd had a very rough past 2 years that were only relieved when he was shifted central for the last few months. Now, he was excellent in those few months after AFCON, but this season it looks like his form from the 18 months previous has returned in Munich. (Also it was primarily his decision to leave).

And (as pointed out already) there were 3 seasons of 90+ points (and 3 champions league finals) so obviously the prem wasn't an outlier as a good season, it was just the year that particular 90+ total was enough to beat an otherwise imperious City.

Interesting City lineup - Probably 4th and 5th choice CBs, and a very attacking team in font of them. is it self-assurance, or over-confidence? ETH has been getting good performances out of Utd under these circumstances, letting the other team have the ball and hitting on the counter - from the looks of City's team, they'll have plenty of opportunity to do that.

Did Varane really need to just lay there completely prone for a minute while they were under huge pressure? And had he not wasted so much time doing it, he'd have been allowed stay on the pitch to play on, and maybe they don't concede.

Trotting around totally fine now a minute later. Reminds me a bit of when De Gea did similar a few seasons ago, and conceded as a result.

Haaland is just something completely different from anything we've seen before.

The extent of his body control is unbelievable, added to incredible pace and power and striking instincts. Pretty much the perfect centre forward.

The man barely gets a toe to it but can get enough power on the shot it's like it was a volley.
