Hi got 3 quotes 2 around 10900 and one 9800.

I didn't bother with batteries as I don't think we'll produce enough to store in batteries and the technology is moving so fast atm...

    1. 10 Jinko panels 410w with HYD-ES 4000 inverter & Eddi Diverter for the hot water => 10860 (saying they provide the Eddi diverter @ 1339 for free in that quote)
    2. 11 x 395w JA Solar Panels, 3.6kw Solis Inverter, Eddi Hot Water Diverter => 9850
    3. 10 x 400w suntech UltraV panels - S6-GR1P(2.5-6)K inverter, Eddi diverter => 10950

    all 3 are SEAI approved.

fitted, BER assessment and Cert and paperwork for SEAI grant.

From what I'm seeing here... not the cheapest but seems fair? Not sure which inverter would be best...

They all provide Eddi diverter so must be the most popular atm

Definitely looking for an app to see in as close to real-time the power from our panels, from the grid in and out and consumption...

Is it best to go by kw rather than number of panels seeing as there are different size and watt panels being offered etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,481 ✭✭✭micks_address

Eddi should be around 750 installed.. you can buy the unit around 535 euro.. you need a Harvi and CT clamp which adds about another 100 to the price

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,607 ✭✭✭DC999

Yeah, count the kW of the panels so it's like for like. So number of panels by wattage. EG 10 x 350w (watt) panels = 3500w or 3.5kWp. The P in kWp is peak. IE max wattage that panel / system can produce in the best conditions.

But…bear in mind that IF the inverter is smaller it will limit the capacity. So if you had a 3kW inverter with 4kWp of panels, it can only ever produce 3kWh (which is kilowatt hours). And that’s fine in Ireland and some suggest to ‘overpanel’ so the panels are up to 1.5 times the size of the inverter. Installer can work out how many panels can fit on the inverter.

The eddi comes with a CT, and if you can wire it back to the consumer unit you don't need a harvi either.

Myenergy told me you need the ct from eddi to connect harvi to meter output and another one to solar.. I'm not sure if you need a 3rd if you have a battery?

Just bumping this to see if anyone sees anything ‘off’ here ? Or as good as I’m likely to get at present ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 139 ✭✭Slaacer

Yes thought they over inflated its price to show how a big discount lol...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,561 ✭✭✭championc

You can only monitor the batteries of AC connected batteries.

With a Hybrid inverter, you can only monitor what comes out of the hybrid, which would be nothing as batteries are being charged, and would equal consumption as batteries being discharged.

So it is pointless to monitor Hybrid inverters with MyEnergi

Would love some feedback on the following quote I've gathered for a DIY install, I can get some material ex vat with work so I know it's already competitive (I hope) but just making sure it makes sense. I haven't looked into grants as its mainly DIY.

Our annual usage is 4000 - 5000 Kw, but we have been trying to keep it down as much possible this past year, so that could easily 5 - 6k

figures below are for a 6.4Kw ground install system with solis hybrid inverter, 5kw battery and an Eddi. I will be doing 90% of the work myself.

Total should be 8200 roughly, but I've added the vat inclusive price aswel to normalize it for anyone to compare

Go DIY on the battery and you could double the capacity for about €500 less. There's a dedicated thread

Hi, I got a quote for the following with a indicating a price of €7,000 Incl. VAT (after Grant has been applied) :

    - 8 Panel System 3.2kwh (400w all black Autarco panels.)

    - String Inverter

    - BER cert

    - Fireman switch

    - No battery

    - No EDDI

    Good/Bad?

    Other info:

Current usage is roughly 4530 kWh per year. Due to Velux windows will be limited to ~ 8 Panels max. Is 8 panels considered a small system? Is it worth it if less than yearly usage?

Also, mentioned 5.8kwp system in same quote, but imagine that's a typo as 3.2kwh == 3.2kwp?

    Thanks.

nooooooo, very poor value, keep looking.

and regarding kwp, at least your self use will be approx. 100% 😄

you seen post#1 with consensus pricing guide?

Nearly twice the price of SAAS on the installers page.

Thanks for the reply. Saw the pricing guide all right, wasn't sure if 8 panels is considered small or not (and so the rule of thumb may not apply). But ya, thought is was poor either way. Cheers

Cheers! Hadn't considered SAAS, will take a look.

I have the lads from the north installing in November and queried swapping out the Eddi for a Zappi. I was expecting an €800 max difference between the two.

Their response - 'The deduction of the Eddi would be 350 euros and the addition of the Zappi would be 1500 euros'.

Doesn't sound very reasonable does it?

Just had a look at a SAS website (presume its the same one everyone is talking about) and they now have an online quote tool(or else I never noticed it before😕), so it looks like an 8 panel system(400w panels I think!) is coming in at €6595. I think thats up from recently going by others quotes, woud it be reasonable?

Comparing for the quote I got from solartricity supplier for 12PV. this prices looks much better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,481 ✭✭✭micks_address

I'm tried the solar as service emails phone etc and no response

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,387 ✭✭✭crisco10

i got a call back from them, but 6 or 7 weeks after I sent the initial Contact Us note. Had long ago made a decision in another direction. They didn't seem too upset to miss my business!

Just on the Renusol Console be careful with the panel size. I looked to buy these before and they would not fit the panel width, max was 1015mm.

It was a fairly standard panel size I was using. But they could have changed these since then.

Installation in progress! Electrics and inverter in place, waiting for panels to complete.

    😎

    10 panels

    3.85 kWp System

    Inverter

    No battery

    Eddi Hot Water Divert

    BER Certificate

    €9,760 net of grant.

    Clueless, so all opinions appreciated

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,050 ✭✭✭jkforde

double what it should be imo, read back through the thread for opinions on previous quotes

(is the practice of quoting mad prices to deter business still going on?)

Well if you're getting the additional grant for the charger it's only a €600 difference.

    €1500 - 600 - 350.

That said, those figures sound off. I'd give them a call. The Eddi costs over €500 just for the unit so for unit plus install they should be dropping more than €350 off the quote.

Plus €1500 is on the high end for a charger install I'd have thought.

    No harm in asking.
