Do all new heat pumps have inverters which makes the heat load calculations easier?

I gather most new heat pumps have inverters which allow the load to be modulated. Am interested in how this works, am familiar with VSDs but not an inverter as a control mechanism. learning continues? 😎

I haven't seen a non-inverter system for AC or Heat Pump in over a decade. ( maybe some of the lesser brands still had them).
In essence its a compressor VSD, typically ranging from 30% to 110% speed/capacity.
Advantages are :
load matching
less wear and tear on compressor starts

increased efficiency at part load conditions - which is most of the time

Thanks, so it would make sizing HPs easier, ignoring cost, put in a 12 even though a 9 might do it?
