I could see them reshuffle the hours to have a 10-12 show, a 12-3 show and a 3-6 show on both days. Now that Premiership Live is long gone and Pumped Up Kicks is also finished, they don't need a show watching sport anymore.

    This too shall pass.

Haha yes, Dermot was reading this thread, recognized the comments he was repeating when he was on Wednesday morning 😀

Just listened back there on the best of the week (it's just over an hour in) - hilarious!

No - not quite. Tim Kelly did it first. He had brought the Classic 9 at 9 idea from 98FM, and the time changed to eventually be 11.

Did anyone listen to Jessica's last show on Saturday? Any reason given for her departure?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,606 ✭✭✭✭flazio

Nothing mentioned. Indications seem to be it's Jessica jumping rather than Bauer pushing. May just be a coincidence but Tara Kumar has announced she's leaving 2FM for London so there's a slot open there. Also Jessica Co runs a tattoo parlour with her husband in Malahide and is on an organising committee for a tattoo exhibition in the RDS every year so it's not like she's going to be stuck for something to do.

    This too shall pass.

Jessica Mascial gone? Brilliant. She was awful - thought Paula Mac was the worst radio presenter until Jessica came along.

Heard the new Louise a few times - seems to be pretty good in fairness.

I think it was the comments on the old ones which got it deleted

Does anyone listen to Today FM on an internet radio? I've had the same radio for a few years now but in the last couple of weeks I haven't been able to connect to Today FM on it, which is weird 'cos all the other Irish stations work fine on it. Anyone know why that is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,265 ✭✭✭TaurenDruid

I listen on TuneIn most days, it's been fine for me.

Thanks, I've used that too, but I'm talking about a physical radio that picks up stations over the internet.

It's worked fine for a few years, so wondering why I can't listen to Today FM on it now - if anyone has a solution let me know!

I've had times where my Google speaker couldn't play Today Fm on Tune-in before. It usually reappears eventually.

I've had that too. Does your play ads every time you ask it to play Today FM?

My smart speaker always has adverts when TodayFM starts up

Yeah, works fine for me on both a Roberts Stream 94i and an older 84i.

And as above, there's usually an advert played before you hear the stream.

Thanks, maybe it's my radio. I found a way around it, if anyone else has the same problem - you can search for online radio feeds for UK and Irish stations on radiofeeds dot co dot uk. Once you have the link you can input it into your radio manually.

And yes - I find the add at the start very annoying!!! Seems to be an issue with all the Bauer Irish stations.

I've gotten ads trying to listen to iRadio and Fm104 on the RadioPlayer app and have for a long time. It's very much a standard thing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,424 ✭✭✭nc6000

Because I have the Pro version of TuneIn I thought I might not get ads every time I ask Google to play Today FM but it sounds like everyone gets them. Seems more a Today FM thing than a TuneIn one.

The app on a smart speaker like the Google nest mini isn't connected to any phone app so it's always the free version (unless you cast from your phone to the speaker). If you just say "Hey/Ok Google play..." directly to your speaker it's using a free TuneIn app. (unless it's a BBC station where it seems to have an app called "The BBC")

    This too shall pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,424 ✭✭✭nc6000

Today FM seems to play an ad when you start streaming regardless of app version or device.

I won't be going back to an FM radio in the kitchen so it will have to do, just a bit annoying if trying to catch news headlines etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,265 ✭✭✭TaurenDruid

At least on Tune-In, it's one ad at the start. Listening on the Go Loud app, it's one at the start, then possibly more ads at random times - in the middle of a song, an interview, the news, even an ad break!

Yeah I certainly got that impression too. She's done bits on BBC Radio as well. Hope the future works out well for her whatever she does, I enjoyed listening to her shows and she seems genuinely nice as well.

Have to say as well I enjoyed the bit on D&D on Monday with Peter Collins and Louise Cantillon, good to get to know more about the presenters.

Today FM's website schedule for Friday now has a Friday Night 80s show listed where Friday Night Anthems would have been. Ian Dempsey and D&D this morning plugging some 80s show with Steve K too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,576 ✭✭✭Declan A Walsh

It was only a few years ago that Today FM scrapped the Friday Night 80s show after running for years!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 Gwinn

Seems to be a new fixture in the lineup anyway. Pamela and Ray plugging it too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 923 ✭✭✭radiotrickster

If Steve K is on Spin until 6pm on Fridays, do we think he’ll hang around for a few hours or will this be recorded?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54 ✭✭matrix mick

Dermot and Dave are gone to the absolute dogs. I've been listening to them since back on 98fm but the show is gone so stale.

Say stuff still makes me laugh but it's been the same stuff for years. The new stuff they are trying is no good either. 'Challenge Cathal' and 'What's the story' are not interesting.

Then there's the repeats, Jesus I think they've played some interviews three times in a week.

With you on the repeats. They've sometimes played the same interview twice in the one show!
