Can i find this wine in Ireland please ?

Hi

Not a wine drinker so totally clueless , was in Germany last week with my other half and she ordered a wine in the hotel bar which really impressed her, I took a drink myself and have to say it was beautiful, I asked the hotel for the name of the wine and they gave me the following details.

2021 Sauvignon Blanc Rheinhessen trocken .

Abfüller: Kaiser

Would anyone know if i can get this in Ireland ?

I just had a quick google, and it came up on the Lidl german website, so maybe try Lidl here and see if they have it??

Thanks, got the same result in google myself, took a quick look in my local Lidl the other day, couldnt find , will look again when i am in over the weekend.

It was 8.50 a glass in the hotel bar, but normal prices really for any wine in a hotel, be it good or bad !

I'd nip in to a good off licence or wine shop and ask if they have it or something similar. It's very very likely they'll have or source something similar if not the actual wine itself.

Of the German white wines available in Ireland the vast majority are going to be from the Riesling grape as that's about the level of imagination of Irish buyers and sellers with respect to German whites tbh

For Sauvignon Blanc grape wines you're going to be offered mainly French and the New World (e.g. New Zealand etc)

The grape is going to determine the taste more than anything else

Trocken means dry but Sauvignon Blanc wines are pretty much exclusively of the dry style in any case

Rheinhessen is the region of Germany

if you search "Sauvignon Blanc Rheinhessen Ireland" you do get a couple of results

I have sent off an email to Lidl customer service to see if they stock it or have any plans to .

I am a wine ignoramus but the flavour/fruitiness/taste off this stuff was fantastic...i know she loved it and was hoping to secure a few bottles for her in Ireland and a few brownie points for me :)

Sauvignon Blanc from Germany is a bit of a rarity.

I think that you may have better results emailing the hotel and asking them for a photograph of the wine bottle if it is possible, if you want the exact wine. There are many similar wines available-

Thanks to you also ! Lidl Ireland got back to me and they dont stock it , i have emailed the hotel again and asked them if they could forward me on a picture of the bottle .

For a non wine drinker myself, i couldnt get over how nice and fruity it was,real refreshing taste with every drink, full of flavours and fruit.

Do you remember how cold it was served? Sometimes white wines are chilled too much, if it is a quality white it should only be lightly chilled not straight from a long stay in the fridge.

Something to keep in mind when trying your bottle.
