Moving from Vodafone to Sky: channels on Q-Lite vs Signature vs Ultimate? Is HD as standard?

Hi. Moving my broadband and telly as Vodafone just aren't at the races price wise to keep me. We already have Netflix and Disney subscriptions hence wondering if we would save overall with going Ultimate.

Can't find an actual comparison of the channels available on Sky Q-Lite vs Signature vs Ultimate packages. Can anyone help?

Is HD standard with sky packages?

Sky Q lite is just free to air channels, with some Irish channels that are not free to air on satellite (RTE/VMTV/TG4).

Signature is the main big basic package, it includes the main suite of Sky branded channels (Max, Comedy, Atlantic etc). Everything except sports, movies and some stand-alone premium channels.

Ultimate adds Netflix, it doesn’t give you any extra linear channels.

Given that lots of the FTA stuff comes in HD, I assume I don't need to pay extra for that HD to Sky?

Yes HD is extra (at €10pm) and Ultra HD is another €4pm on top of that.

That said you do not need to pay extra for FTA channels that are in HD (this includes RTE and TG4 but not VMTV).

Virgin Media One & Two are now available in HD without the €10 HD charge since Sky launched the Lite service

VM Three is only available in SD on Sky, VM Four is not available on Sky

Do you know if Sky Q lite can be run as iptv without the need for a satellite?

Currently have vodafone tv but thinking of ditching it but don't want to put a dish on the house!

There is Sky Glass but you need to be in the market for a new TV (and willing to pay for it too).

Down the road Sky Stream will be available via a “puck” device (similar to the ones used for Sky Glass multiroom) but Sky haven’t launched it yet and it has been delayed in the U.K. so maybe a while before we see it.

Any idea if channel 4 is on sky lite as it doesn't seem to be advertised.

Just informed that no channel 4 more 4 or e4 are on sky lite or sky essentials as it's now called. So you only get rte virgin and BBC channels couple of channels like Dave. Rest of channels are made upof news religious and shopping channels.

Bit late now but I signed up with Sky a few weeks ago and went with the Q-lite package because I'm not a massive TV watcher but stupid me didn't fully check it out and most of the few channels I do watch (previously with eir TV) are not on Q-lite. Once the contract is up I won't be renewing it!
