    Beautiful morning Meath.

Great dry and calm conditions for the kids sports this morning. Still in shorts for school all last week.

May mow the lawn for the last cut. More clouds floating this afternoon in the blue sky.

    17⁰ Meath

Lovely now in Waterford, warm, sun shining, everything turning green again and the Robins are singing. Trees are not loosing the same amount of leaves now. Back to doing a bit of work at the side of the house and the ground is a lot easier to work with, just the right amount of moisture for digging and pulling up roots.

I've noticed the last few nights the hedgehogs are really starting to gorge themselves for the coming winter. Got a couple of right bruisers that like to play bowling with the smaller one. The Rowan trees are having a good year with big bunches of berries, same with the Dog Rose.

Be a fab day in the Wicklow Hills only would have to drive back in the rain tomorrow.

Outdoor dining on the patio. Some heat in that beautiful evening sun.

    What an absolutely stunning day.

The government will be happy with me, I had my washing machine on in middle of night so two loads of washing could go out on line this morning😉

We spent our last fab day at Fort Lucan, closed now till next year.

Chilling now outside after a delicious barbecue, the last one until next year by the looks of it.

Oh fingers crossed we really need some more decent days in Sept or it will be a long winter.

Any idea how wet it's likely to get in the South Wicklow/North Wexford region tomorrow? I find Met Eireann's rain forecast to be poor enough at times

It's infuriating that there is such beauty in such a small area in Killarney. A good chunk of the country could be like this, with not much effort or not much inconvenience to anyone. 😔

    But I digress ...

In other news, a beautiful day in North Wicklow.

    Spectacular red moon tonight!

My sentiments exactly but there is a quiet and steady momentum underway with many interested and concerned persons rewilding areas and fair dues to a lot of farmers for setting some land aside and planting native trees and letting nature take over. I see a lot of people putting in ponds of all sizes, from small town garden ponds to larger scale for wading birds and with parcels of mountain and glens being bought for rewilding purposes. A little helps, been a great year at my site as the trees mature with a constant buzz of insects and new species of birds this year have taken up residence , hope many more get involved and maybe the decline in nature can be reversed.

Nice calm evening, just in from doing a few jobs around the place. Quite mild at `15.9C .

Listening to Gerry Murphy tonight after the news saying there could be high totals in areas and as much as 80mm in mountainous areas. Hard to know with the remnants of Tropical storms, could be carrying an awful lot of moisture, will see how the models handle it.

Maybe something like 40 to 50mm in Cork ?? Will see.

Torrential rain here in South East Cork. A day for sitting on the couch watching the football... Oh wait.

Very heavy rain in West cork since around 3:30, stopped for around half an hour around 5, and very heavy and intense again since. Don't really remember anything like it, usually it comes in heavy bursts and then lightens before becoming heavy again but this is constant heavy

Nice long roll of thunder just now here in Castlebar

Today is a similar muckfest to last Saturday, a complete flip on yesterdays beautiful weather. At least this is the last truly wet day for a while. Surely after today many of the countrys stations will be pushing past the 100mm mark for September and were only one third of the way through the month.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,469 ✭✭✭pauldry

Yes the rest of September will be drier than normal after today and some of tomorrow so many areas rainfall figures for the month won't rise too much more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,410 ✭✭✭mcburns07

Less rain than I expected in the end given the orange warning and what the models were showing for my are, very heavy til mid morning but since then it has just been heavy mist and so muggy. Rotten.
