Why is what he said about his mother and William taken at face value but what he said about Harry questioned?

Ooohhhh, but they didn’t. Not until gormless Hazza asked them to leave her alone. Then and only then did they take any interest.

Imagine having to ask your boyfriend to ask the journos to leave you alone, even though they had no idea of who you were? Awks or what.

    I agree.

Am laughing though at the image of Charles actually saying that 🤣 those exact words. 😁

That's what I was wondering. I thought deactivated meant you couldn't see it anymore?

Alright @Leg End Reject I was simply saying that they might wait unto it after the funeral.

End of the road this may be a very rare time I will agree with you but to me Charles speech his words on harry and Meghan were as said and no underlining meaning.

I'm sure some will see no drama there at all, just some mis-communication / crossed wires

I just answered, no offence intended. Royal protocol is in a league of its own.

It's sad that Kate and Megan were staying less than a kilometre away yesterday, when the boys were up with grandma- and reportedly no contact, especially at this time.

Not a good reflection on where the Royal Family are at right now- the British public may insist on a reconciliation - otherwise any "pronouncements" from Charles 3, especially around the areas of reconciliation or family or whatever he's made say, may feel hollow.

Its hard to know what the truth is behind all the tabloid headlines and royal sources, but surely Harry knew his grandmother was dead by the time they announced they'd be going to Balmoral ? you'd think there'd be some communication with his family, or coordination of travel plans at least, before he put out a statement

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan are to travel to Scotland after Queen Elizabeth II's doctors issued a bulletin about the monarch's health, a spokesperson for the couple said Thursday.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be travelling to Scotland," the spokesperson said.

It was his first speech as King and so it will be pored over. He said things now change for his family and says his wife is Queen Consort, William and Kate POW with Cornwall, Scottish titles. They all move up that promotional notch. With Harry and Meghan he says he loves them and as they continue building their lives abroad. To me that means carry on as you were with my blessing. It harks back to Megxit and half in half out desires. Charles shut it down and they won't be coming back into the fold i.e. there were murmurings at the time that Charles was a soft touch and was for the whole half in half out but acquiesced for the Queen who was against it. So no half in half out. He also said he was sad at no longer having time for charities and causes he spent five decades workimg with. If Harry was remotely interested then such work was there to get royal support. They were hitting the ground running supposedly so perhaps Charles had his gigs earmarked for Harry once the Queen passed. He has no interest as it's his prerogative and, despite a memoir coming out, his dad loves him. It just dilutes any likely bombshells in the book.

I feel this was Charles saying to Harry, go, have your freedom with my love and blessings. Rather than give him a title to sort of "tie" him down to a life he so very publicly said he didn't want.

Kates kids have just started school. She would have been too busy with them to be bothered with her sister in law.

All the more reason to hop over and give her a dig out- it’s just sad but unfortunately it’s the way it is

It's likely the queen was already dead so no need to rush over. The PM got word at half 4 before the others arrived and rumours suggest half 2 or around the time of the original statement.

It's likely the undertakers had been and she was laid out by the time they got there. No one who was there is likely to run with deathbed stories or put it in a memoir.

Why would Kate go near Meghan? She can’t be trusted & has proven that. It’s very clear now that the Sussex’s are well outside the Royal fold. He was not include in the group rushing to Scotland. Hopefully Meghan will go back to US now, but I doubt it. They need the exposure for Netflix et al, hopefully they’ll be managed as they were in the summer & kept well away from the senior Royals.

The others all have defined roles, H & M don't. If he didn't acknowledge them it would look like a snub.

Human nature leads to others trying to interpret some cryptic meaning from what he said, but they're out so some might see it at face value, others might see it as a public confirmation that there's no way back in.

Exactly this. Why would you want someone around you and your children who can't be trusted? I don't know about everyone here but all families have their issues. I avoid certain family members, just as Kate and Will want to avoid certain ones. Fair play to them for keeping them at arms length. Harry and Megs will be sidelined for the next few days and once the funeral is over head back to America. She might go sooner as I'm sure she will have to get back to her kids. They can then go off and "continue to build their life overseas." Out of sight, out of mind.

Kate didn't meet Meghan? I can't imagine why. Remember this is someone who a couple of weeks ago said that she never had to sign anything preventing her from speaking out and that she is magnanimously choosing not to. I wouldn't touch anyone like that with a ten foot barge pole and I think neither would Kate.

Harry and Meghan will probably have to go through William now rather than Charles who may have been a soft touch. Can't see William being gentle with them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,177 ✭✭✭Ms2011

Exactly, those with defined roles would need to be mentioned and their roles updated.

Harry has no official role within the RF so there was no need to mention him but he did anyway and mentioned him affectionately, you'd really have to search hard to find the negative in that.

I'm only quoting what he actualy said.I interpreted nothing.

Well no, if he didn't mention them it would look like a snub. Regardless of what's happened Harry is still his son.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,177 ✭✭✭Ms2011

Your right some probably would see it as a snub considering his affectionate mention is seen as a dig by some, there is no winning really.

What are you getting defensive for? I was agreeing with your post…

I got the feeling from Charles speech last night he was more or less saying goodbye and good luck Harry and Meg

just watched King Charles (it's really a bit strange to say/write this, 'Prince Charles' was just like a fixed term..) speech and this is how I perceive his sentence about H&M: it didn't sound affectionate to me, just too short, just pointing out the fact that he's his son and he will stay his son. And his addition 'they will proceed to build their life abroad' sounds to me: don't think of coming back and getting back a role in the RF. Sorry, that's just my perception, opinions obviously vary..
