Budget record player setup

Hi folks - could you give me some guidance/suggestions for a decent budget record player and speaker setup? I'm not fussed on fancy stuff like bluetooth and USB, just want a not terrible turntable and speakers. I'm very confused by preamps etc. so was hoping you guys could help me short-circuit by recommending a full solution that you have in stock currently? I'm looking at max. €500 unless you tell me that's far too low. Thanks!

You'll get a decent setup well within 500 euro.

You should have enough change after buying the player to purchase a separate 5.1 surround sound speaker set from the lijes of Logitech.

Ive a truly cheapass record player and hooked it up to such a sound system.

Pure surround sound.

And the needle on the player is the same one as bought with the record player 15 months ago

There are a couple of ways to build a system for vinyl, the first would be a traditional amp, speakers and turntable separates system. This would be the more expensive option but definitely gives the best sound! If you're looking for a good set up around the 500 euro mark I'd go for the the Cambridge AXA25, a pair of Fyne F300 speakers and a Sony PSLX310BT turntable which would be a great starting system!

The other way to do it would be with a turntable and a pair of active speakers. This option has an amp built into the speakers and keeps the cost down but wouldn't sound as good as the separates system.

The Sony turntable has a built in pre amp so it'll plug into any amplifier!

Thanks for these suggestions. Can I ask if, for a complete vinyl newbie who as yet doesn't even own any vinyl, and will be mostly listening to 'scratchy'/old style blues, and jazz - is the separates system you suggest worth the €230 extra over the turntable + active speakers? If it would deliver a noticeably better experience and avoid having to upgrade in the near future I guess I could stretch close to it.

Hi Gordon Gekko.

The Separate system will sound far superior to the Tibo active speaker setup.

It will give more detail and just sound better.

They are also better sounding Active speakers as you get closer to the price of the separate system.
