Can anyone help?Im restoring an old C40

I can't get the left crank off.

Can it be tapped off? Any other ideas ?

The self extracting bolt came apart and now won't work,It's a Dura ace 7700 crankset it's cream crackered.I just need to get crank arm off

Thanks for the reply yes I do well I have a crank extractor but apparently not required for this crank.

The chainset right side came off no issue when I loosen with the Allen key.

Looks like it's seized and I will have to tap off

I think what 07Lapierre means is that you can use the crank extractor to take off the crank, even though it originally didn't need one.

if the extractor doesn’t work, you could try pulling it off with a pullers? Something like this might do it…

Left crank seized there is a tiny bit of play so going to work on it today and see if I can get a pulley

Hacksaw between left side crankarm and BB should do the job (if entire crank is already finished).

Had to resort to this tactic once ever when stripping a bike that was left exposed to the elements for months

Unfortunately i dont have a hacksaw OR heat gone as also suggested ,Im on to the Park tools site now to to see what else i can do ,looks like its going to be brute force :)

Well you don't need to worry about protecting the crank so just be careful you don't contact the frame with the sledge hammer :-)

I sent it to my neighbour who's a motor mechanic and he has better tools to try and sort it ,fingers crossed

The neighbour a motor mechanic had a pulley and off it came crank intact but aesthetically beyond use ,

Will try saddle technique to twist out seat post and as for the BB that's another adventure ,if i can get all removed it would make a lovely build

Bench vice is your friend for the seat post. Clamp the post, and rotate the frame. You'll have much more leverage
