Just from going what I see on the roads there is a pile of ID4's around. Second would be nissan leaf but those have been on the market a lot longer.

I'd hazard a guess that a lot of them where bought last year and registered this year. I've been looking and not a car to be had. Would be a different story if it was a normal last few years.

Overall we have quite a new fleet according to ACEA, 8.6 years, which is below the EU average of 11.8 years and half the oldest of 17 shared by LT/RO.

I'm surprised that we have the second newest fleet in EU after Luxembourg. So posting the year of registration in the number plates really seems to work and people have plenty of money to keep up with the Jones'.

You’re possibly mixing up correlation and causation. There could be other/additional reasons for why our cars are newer - high employment rate, a high proportion of well-paying jobs, generally high level of confidence in the economy, low interest rates and the ease of accessing financing.

The positioning in this Top 5 will be interesting to view in 1 months time. There is a large consignment of Model 3s currently landing in Ireland for delivery in September which I imagine will have an impact on this list as the others have little to none available at the moment...

That's probably true, and after that the Teslas will likely take shares from Numbers 1-3 as they are the same price bracket. If Nissan ever get around to sorting their delivery schedule they'd shoot up the charts due to the affordability factor

The Tesla can work out the same price as the cars above it. People think they are mad money but you until February of this year they were under €50k on the road.

There are rumours of a small hatchback as well, could be a competitor to the leaf price. I imagine they'd hoover up if they released such a car

Would Tesla really have much impact on the top spots? Obviously the Ioniq 5 and EV6 will have good numbers being a new nodel but that means more competition and more customers are spoken for already.

I think people notice Teslas more because, well, they look like Teslas, plus to most people including myself every Tesla model looks the same. Whereas unless you were in some way interested in EV's you probably wouldn't be able tell an ID3 from a Golf, an e208 from an ordinary 208 etc.

While that puts people into cars it doesn't mean they have to be new. When buying new it means you can at least afford the credit.

I just didn't expect Ireland to be so high up the list. For example Germany that has lots of demand for export of used cars have a much older fleet than us.

Toyota bz4x has not started its delivery. Within few years, you will see that toyota bz4x everywhere in the road like 95% of the Irish taxis are Toyotas.

Thats true, most people have no clue about Car models, my BMW has been confused with Skoda, when we had the Tesla, most thought it was a Toyota, only brand that never got people, was the Audi.
