Advice on what watch to buy

Hey how's it going? I'm looking to get myself a watch but haven't a clue what to look for or even where to start! I said I'd ask the knowledgeable people here a few questions and hopefully someone will help me out. I'm in the market for a watch - it'll be 100% for good wear - weddings, nights out stuff like that. Unfortunately I have a budget and it's fairly restrictive - I can only spend around €200. I might be able to stretch it out to 250 if I think the watch is particularly nice.

Would anyone have any suggestions for good quality fairly stylish watches within that price range? Is there anything I should be looking for in particular? I quite like dark watches - black or gun metal grey and I think I'd prefer a metal strap because I think they look a bit classier.

If anyone has any suggestions then fire away!

Something like this Seiko maybe?

There's also more of a gun metal black style offering but you might be paying closer to 280 for that by the looks of things.

Seiko is definitely the way to go at that price point. Something like listed above wont be beaten for value for money and will last for years to come. The darker coatings do wear quick enough on the lower price watches so maybe best to stick with stainless and then pick up a couple of different straps to go with it. Stay away from fashion brands .

Thanks for the replies everyone. That second Seiko would definitely be along the lines of what I'm looking for. I'll have a Google when I get home and see what's what. If anyone else has any suggestions or recommendations work away!

Any interest in Laco? They have a range of very decent shouts and 2nd hand would be in the price range. That said even new they are quite reasonable.

I was about as serious in my moonswatch suggestion as 893bet was in his omega speed master DSOTM .

Ok, how about this as a suggestion given I bought the one shown below yesterday for about 160 euro landed. It's steel, dark,bracelet is easily found, must have some quality built in as it's still running after 40 years, it has a metal movement and can be serviced. It's vintage quartz though and it's Tritium lume has left the building. Seiko 7548-7000.

I got this Tisell Explorer a few years ago for about €200 iirc, it's gone up now but it really is very well made for that sort of money
