None of us are old enough to remember the original series when it was out but I did manage to catch re-reuns. Love the show.

Apparently a movie version is in the works with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt on board.

“I can tell you a little. It's a reimagining of the show from the '80s, the late '70s, early '80s, starring Lee Majors. It's about a stuntman who gets embroiled in some crazy drama outside of the movie business, and mayhem ensues. And so, there's fun and action, and we're trying to make a big summer movie with it. And Universal's incredibly supportive, and Ryan's been really collaborative on the material, and we're starting shooting in October. And so, we're in pre-production right now.”

Ryan Gosling is no Lee Majors and Emily Blunt is definitely no Heather Locklear.

Think it was Heather Thomas who starred in the original series.

you're right, it was Heather Thomas not Heather Locklear. the rest of my point still stands.

    Birds of a Heather.

I used to love this as a kid. But it was really bad. Rose-tinted glasses and all that. And that A-Team movie was one of the stupidest films I've ever seen..... And I've seen (Most of) "Dude, where's my car?"

"Dude, where' my car?" is a modern classic and I will accept no criticism of it.

Hate to admit, I’m old enough, used to watch it religiously.

It is. But it is also pretty stupid.

As for Fall Guy, I remember watching it but I don't remember much about it apart from the theme song

I thought Mark Wahlberg was attached to star and produce at one time

Hey it’s 2022 why is a non stunt actor talking the role and a job off a stunt actor on the big screen where is the outcry.

To be fair, Gosling's been in this territory long enough with Drive & Place Beyond The Pines he could identify as a stuntman.

Speaking of Gosling, I can't think of any other current actor that illicits so little a reaction in me when I hear they're attached to a project. He's not a bad actor, and he's been in good movies, but there's something about this association with any movie that just inspires a "meh". Am I making any sense?

It's a pity the original TV show never gets repeated, not seen it on anywhere in 10 or more years.

Plenty of us remember its original run, me included.

It's actually not. I have seen a couple relatively recently (About a year ago) and they weren't great. Not quite "Culture-Club-meets-The-A-Team" bad but not great. Just remember Heather......

Heather Thomas - I only have to think of the opening of the TV series where her character Jody comes through the swing doors of Col'ts house i a bikini

Ryan Gosling is just way to pretty to be a believable fall guy.

They're still trying to launch a franchise for Gosling? I just don't get him as a movie star and personally find him to be a bit of a charisma void, something I can't be alone in thinking, since he seems to be box office poison with far more flops than hits to his name.

This anouncement is the sound of the bottom of the Hollywood barrel being scraped. I now fully expect John Travolta to announce a sequel to 'Look Who's Talking' 4 any day now...

this seems like something they should have done 10 years ago - I'm old enough to have watched the series and remember next to nothing about it, other than it was regular Saturday evening adventure-of-the-week fodder like the A-Team and CHiPs (both of which have already spawned their own rubbish 21st century movies).

Had to look it up to see. So both kids could have their own kids now.

When it came out first it was hard to watch as you were always looking at Lee Majors as The Sic million dollar man - hard to get your head around that as a kid.

The Fall Guy was really the 8-11 age group - it wouldn’t have had a big teen following I don’t think and certainly not anything like 6 mill man.

I remember watching many episodes mainly due to nothing much else on but thinking it was a bit childish and I was about 12 or 13 I think at the time

I still remember the theme tune and chorus:

“Coz I’m the unknown stunt man that made Eastwood look so fine”😂

I would have thought the Six Million Dollar Man might have been more suitable for a re-boot ( with suitable adjustment for inflation obviously 😊)

The bionic woman was my favourite - a strange ending to that series

I’m also old enough to remember watching the original series and like another poster here, I remember virtually nothing about it other than the catchy intro theme music and the iconic truck. I was absolutely obsessed with the Fall Guy Truck and the A Team van as a kid! I was terribly disappointed with the A-Team movie… I think the ingredients were there for a good movie but they made a mess of it…. They even wrecked the iconic van inside the first 15 minutes which killed it for me! It’s like the writers of that movie missed the point entirely. The van was the “5th member” of the Team, as iconic as Mr. T’s mowhawk…but they wrecked it before the opening credits rolled…

I fear this will be yet another rubbish sanitized modern Hollywood take on an ‘80’s TV show that was very much of its time.

Big screen remake/reboot of the 80's TV series.

    Looks fun! Cracking cast

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,252 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Seriously, a trailer for Fall Guy and they don't use the theme song?

    Does look fun though.

I'm expecting a few cameos too in this Drive sort of fun sequel

At least the pickup truck made an appearance at the start.

Good supporting cast with the likes of Hannah Waddingham and Winston Duke though. And a certain 80s TV star is in the credits on IMDb as well. Still, if they're going to reboot an old Lee Majors show, I'd prefer it to be The Six Million Dollar Man Adjusted For Inflation.
