Your talking about weather the kids should be namedor not, which i was'nt discussing.

I was talking about if the parents should be guilty by association with the heinous act committed by their children.

Yeah fair enough, what I said was something I wanted to get off my chest. It's something I've been thinking about for a while now. Youth crime is getting worse afaics and I don't think the current model of dealing with youth crime is working.

But what I'm saying isn't far removed from your point. I do think the parents should be made an example of tbh. That's what would happen if they were named.

    Huh?

    Society..

    They wont be employable.

    They won’t be boyfriend material.

    for starters.

I think one of Jamie Bolger's killers was tracked down under his new identity and outed in a newspaper. Or at least was doorstepped and had blurred photographs printed or something

Probably James's parents. Their toddler son was tortured and butchered, and their emotions around this are valid.

“This is a very sensitive case, anything that could reveal this teenager’s identity could put his safety at very serious risk,” a source said last night."

What source is that now? The name of Boy A is well known locally, it just can't be mentioned in public. I have no doubt that the other prisoners will very soon know who the new lad in their midst is if his real name is used in prison.

Malevolent ghouls?...no...two children...either could be the child of anyone on here. You don't have to be too intelligent to realise that children are raised and influenced by far more then the family they grew up in.

What is the value of dragging up this case again? Discussions like this always turn into revenge fantasies, either towards the perpetrators or the families who failed to raise them.

Poor Ana Kriegel is dead, her killers are in prison. They will probably be monitored by the Guards for life. They will be examined psychologically by experts in their field in order to ascertain their pathology.

The outrage merchants of boards.ie really don’t need to compete with each other to see who “cares” the most, or who’s the angriest anymore. It’s not entertainment to be followed and gossiped upon.

What happened was a tragedy but it has nothing to do with Joe Soap-Opera anymore. Let the poor girl and her family rest in peace and move on with your lives.

What makes you say that? Of course it has everything to do with all of us. These lads are not dead and will likely be released in a few years time (almost certainly in the case of boy B). They will be given new identities and new lives, just like Venables / Thompson. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't want them to be anywhere near me or my family.

More an atrocity than a tragedy.

Like Venables and Thompson they will be monitored for life, and sent back to prison if they so much as say boo to a goose.

You can have your macho fantasies about kicking their arses if they go anywhere near your family as much as you like, the reality of it is you’re just wasting your energy.

    🙄

No fantasies here love. I don't want to do anything to them, I just don't want them near me or my family. But maybe you can take them in as lodgers though?

Nothing would. But little instances of, for them, justice, might give them a little peace.

What happened to those little fuckwits in Anna's school that made her everyday life a complete misery.?

The same little fuckwits that shed crocodile tears at her funeral.

And the actions of these little fuckwits that led to these 2 bastards believing they could do as they please to Anna and get away with it, having witnessed the said fuckwits get away with treating Anna like an outcast.

Why weren't any of them ever tried for their part in this atrocity.? They played a part.!!

These little fuckwits are now also adults and living in that community. Everyone there knows exactly who they are.

Highly possible/probable that 1 or 2 of them will be reading these posts. Scum.......😡😡

I was going to ask, what kind of young person would you have to be to sign up to boards in this day and age....

His new neighbours. If I seem to recall, one of them ended back up in jail for being in possession of child pornography.

Would you not prefer to know if he moved in next door?

Yeah, that part really gets to me. Adults knew about the bullying too. Did they ever try to stand up for her? It's so awful you'd cry.

Sharing it may provide some solace at this stage.

I know what both their names are, have done since early on. And do you know what it changes? Nothing.

The general public in Leixlip and old Lucan know the names too. They were spread by word of mouth long before there were charges laid. It still changes nothing. People were generally smart enough to know their families werent to blame, though I understand one family has moved away.

    Not just "old Lucan" @Larbre34

Kids from all over <snip>. All the kids in the school know the names of the boys and we've all known them too since before the court case.

Why don’t you take them in if you need to keep an eye on them? If we’re asking stupid questions.

No justice would be served by releasing the new identities of the James Bulger killers. All it would do is wind up vigilante have-a-go-merchants.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,114 ✭✭✭✭unkel

You seem to have a fixation / fetish for vigilantes. Not really something I would be into. In this case I only care if those two boys would never be near me or my family. I'd be happy if they were locked up forever but that is not likely to happen. Maybe with boy A, but unlikely with boy B.

If vigilantism wasn’t a concern then why do you think sensitive cases such as these are maintained under a veil of anonymity? Or do you think they’re simply worried about embarrassing the murderers of this poor girl? Get real, man.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,485 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

No, malevolent ghouls. Murderers, torturers, rapists… sadists… evil.. regardless of age.. those are the facts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,114 ✭✭✭✭unkel

It's just the way the law works. The murderers were under age, so it would be illegal to publicly share their names. Vigilantism isn't a concern, as several people have already told you, many people know the names of these murderers.

I think it is you who needs to get real. No offence, but you come over as someone very far removed from reality.

Vigilantism isn’t a concern when they’re already in prison, yes. Let’s see how much of a non-concern it is once those two men are released.

“It’s just the way the law works.” Like it’s the weather. “The law just works that way.”

The anonymity for minors is to stop people from identifying them after their release, no doubt after being driven into a foaming rage by the tabloid newspapers and internet threads like this.

The presumption being that very young criminals, even those who commit extremely serious and violent crimes, are still capable of rehabilitation (whether it applies in this particular case or not, before you start crying about me adopting them as my own or whatever) and have the right to continue living their lives after their debt to society has been paid.

This is all big brain stuff, based on thousands of years of collective ruminating by humanity’s great thinkers regarding ethics, morals, justice etc. These ideas might be new to you if you happen to be a Sun newspaper reader.

It’s not only a defect though because is also has some benefits. Unfortunately the only time it gets talked about is in reference to violent crimes and it’s when the monster analogies get thrown around.

Either way the individuals were too young to be formally diagnosed but they will most likely continue to be assessed.
