The money simply is not there for full time careers in womens football as of yet. Football rights money per year in the UK is something like £7 million for the womens game v's £1,000 million for the mens, the tv money for a single Premier League game is more than double the entire womens game gets in a year. That is the level of interest in the sport.

On a somewhat related note.........I see Gary Lineker got in a bit of hot water for tweeting some bra joke relating to the celebration of the winning goal in the women's final the other day.

    Deleted it after etc etc

I haven't listened to Liveline in maybe 3 months till today...

Eoin Hand, ex professional footballer, is on the line. Eoin, what were you doing in 1972?

    I was playing football, Joe.

Wow, really Eoin? Well done well done.

I've clearly missed nothing, have I?

Yeah....sure mate.....if you didn't see a bit of cheating or feigning injury in dat women's tournament, then you weren't looking close enough.

Plenty of it in the final on its own

Joe is a pig at the best of times, however, this is a whole new level of pignorance.

I don't think anyone said there was? Or maybe I missed it?

They are well worth backing at international level, can be successful with fairly small amounts of money.

Lot of money flowing into WSL now, so opportunities for Irish girls.
