The origin of A, B, O Blood Type Categories

    I have great respect for Science, but sometimes the naming convention may be influenced from elsewhere.

    I think the Blood Types were discovered over 100 years ago, but who decided there would be 3 types and called (A,B,C) ?

    The chemical bonds do not correspond to three types, and where did "O" come from?

    Maybe three different species of humanoid, not necessarily corresponding to chemical bond structure?
