The origin of A, B, O Blood Type Categories

I have great respect for Science, but sometimes the naming convention may be influenced from elsewhere.

I think the Blood Types were discovered over 100 years ago, but who decided there would be 3 types and called (A,B,C) ?

The chemical bonds do not correspond to three types, and where did "O" come from?

Maybe three different species of humanoid, not necessarily corresponding to chemical bond structure?

Chemical bonds have little to do with it.

It's to do with presence, and absence, of antibodies and inherited antigenic substances on the surface of red blood cells (RBCs).

The original C was renamed O after the German Ohne, meaning without.

It's variations and variants rather than decent from different sub species.

I think the prescence (or lack of) certain sugars is more pertinent to the categorization.

But this is a chemical structure, fundamentally.

If you had great respect for science you wouldn't ask "who decided there would be 3 types and called (A,B,C) ?" There aren't three blood types, and they aren't called (A,B,C).

AB is a blood type in it's own right. Four types with differing qualities with regard to antigens.

What about Rhesus, Duffy, Kell, P, MNS, Lewis along with many lesser known systems?

How do you see group O as a middle ground?
