Please, recommend me an absolute beginner java course

    Hello everyone, 


    I will be starting an Hdip software development programme by September and I will like to have good exposure to Java as it will be the main language used throughout the programme..


    This programme is going to be a conversion course for me, though I have dabbled in and out of python but not consistent enough due to work hours limitations.


    I will appreciate pointers in the right direction and opinions on how to make the best out of this programme

    I did one of those conversion courses years ago, a lot of Java which I found easy but a lot of the class found difficult. They could not get their heads around for loops, arrays, objects etc.

    Years later, I did a Java Associate cert and found it far more difficult than the modules in the conversion course.

    For your conversion course, if it is anything like the one I did, I would spend a couple of hours reading the below tutorials and focus on the logic rather than getting too hung up on syntax

    I agree with the above - w3schools is good for giving explanations with examples.

    The missus is currently doing a Masters in Soft. Dev, after previously having her degree in a completely different field, and she has found codecademy to be quite good and beginner friendly.

    I did one with ecollege and thought it was good. I did it before attending a springboard Java certificate course and thought it gave good coverage of the basics. Made the first few months easier, probably would have been lost without doing it. The course gave access to some good questions and reading material. It's free too.
