Importing a car from UK to Ireland

Hi,

I am looking for advice please. I have purchased a mobility car in the UK (long story short I couldn't purchase one in Ireland to suit my Dad's height). So my question is does anyone know an insurance company in Ireland that will insure the car to be transported from UK to Ireland as I'm having difficulty as it's on English plates? Also can you please advise me am I correct in saying VAT will be at 23% VRT will be calculated at NCT centre on inspection as it's a 2021 Ford Toureno Custom and import duty is nil as it's manufactured and modified in UK. I have also hired a customs agent. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Transfer your insurance over to the English plates, you can drive on them till you vrt it and then put Irish plates within 3 days or under.

Any transporter company will have its own insurance unless you are driving it yourself, then its above.

Are you sure it's made in the UK, talk to your customs agent, but a quick google search for it gave me this.

That's Turkey, it may or may not be in the customs union for cars, I have no idea, again talk to your customs agent and mention ''returned good relief'' to avoid the duty.

Being "made" in the UK isn't enough to avoid duty, something like at least 60% of the vehicle's components have to be made there to qualify afaik. How you go about proving that is another battle

Also if the vehicle is being transported from the UK to Ireland then surely the transport company's insurance should cover it while it's in their possession?
