Joe Barr - Long Way Home - 7 Day Highest Bicycle Mileage Guinness World Record Attempt

Looks like Joe Barr is back on his bike again, riding between Malin & Mizen Head, trying to cover as many miles as he can over the course of 7 days (July 10th-17th). Rather him than me, I did Mizen to Malin with a group over the course of three and a half days a couple of years back and that was plenty!

Have a look at the live tracking link below to see the route he's taking and where he is at present - if you're lucky he may be passing you by, and I'm sure he'd appreciate any support you can give him along the way, especially in the latter stages.

Seems to have gone as far south as Kanturk, and then turned around to head north again (if tracking is correct) - maybe a change in wind direction? I guess at the end of the day, the aim is to ride as far as possible in 7 days, he doesn't necessarily need to follow the route exactly. I don't use Facebook any more, but nothing about it on their other socials (Twitter, Instagram etc)

There is a 'Distance Travelled' stat on the tracker but unfortunately it reads 0.0M

Ahh - I see what you mean. The only distance-related thing I've seen them post on Twitter is that his target is to cover around 320mi every 24hrs and he's managed his first 320mi in 21hrs.

That's a sickener for him and his team after all the planning. The weather was also in his favour compared to when he did the Malin-Mizen-Malin over 2 bitterly cold days.
