So much for Donal Og's thought last night that "there's a process that we must go through". Sounds like that was arranged long before Kingston was let go.

Best of luck to Pat! There's some nice talent coming through as well, it will be interesting to see what 3 years will bring.

I'm delighted that Pat Ryan has got the job. I'm very hopeful that he'll do a good job for us. I can't wait to find out who'll be his selectors now. Best of luck to Pat, hopefully he'll bring Liam McCarthy back home!

I see Diarmuid Sullivan has been having a moan about the media criticising the Cork management. What a complete and utter hypocrite, he was constantly slagging off the Cork selectors and manager when he was not involved in the Cork set up. If you give it you must take it.

I think the Rock would love a charity boxing match against Mark Landers.

I got the feeling O Sullivan was having a go at Anthony Nash.

Definitely. But I don't think it was just one or two either...

"Kieran (Kingston) has worked under the most scrutinized conditions any intercounty manager has faced.

"Whatever about national media, some of the harshest scrutiny has come from people within Cork. People who have worn the red jersey, people who have stood on the line doing certain roles. It's tough to take in that circumstance.

"It's tough when your own turn on you and start throwing snide remarks."

"Some of them guys, there's history with certain members of previous management who would be involved in our backroom team. At some stages in the careers of these guys on their podcasts, on their social media, they have crossed paths with members of management down through the years."

Perhaps he is a bit moody with Landers jibe about some Cork player who was on the periphary of the county team few years back and who sat beside O Sullivan in the changing room after training one day and said 'you've the strength of a working horse, the speed of a race horse and the brains of a rocking horse' to the Rock.

If that did happen then I doubt if the Cork player who said it left the dressing room alive.

I’d say Landers would give him plenty of it ..

5 point down early on, ladies need to raise their effort.

Much better finish to the half, point up at ht

Our kickout strategy is fairly poor. We need to put more pressure on their kickouts- the mistakes will come.

Surprised Dublin were knocked out, no harm though.

Kickouts have been poor - and now has cost us a goal!

5 down with 13 to go.

That mistake from the keeper the real nail in the coffin for the ladies unfortunately.

Mayo played as well as they could but we started way too slowly and were playing catch up for most of the game.

    Pity the Ladies got beaten.

Was just watching the Tailteann Cup Final and congrats to Westmeath. Was looking up why they are called the Lake County and was on Wikipedia here.

One of Corks nicknames is the "The Donkey Aters (Eaters)"

It says "Applied in particular to the vicinity of Skibbereen in West Cork, where people resorted to eating donkeys during the Great Famine"

Never heard of that one before! Learn something new every day!

Seriously Pat Mulcahy and Sully need to get down off their soap boxes. In a hurling mad county like Cork there will be scrutiny, pressure, and a reasonable amount of expectation. Criticism is fine as long as it's sporting/performance related not personal. As Sean Ó Faolain said Cork is no place for sensitive folk. To succeed there, you have to have the skin of a rhinoceros, the dissimulation of a crocodile, the quality of a hare, the speed of a hawk. Otherwise, the word for every Corkman is to get out and get out quick.

Camogie team drawn to play Waterford in the semifinal after todays 1/4 finals. Galway v Kilkenny in the other semi

Aishling Thompson is an absolute idiot to get herself sent off in a game that was essentially meaningless.

Examiner coverage of the upcoming county championships

"There will be an €8 pay-per-view charge per game this season for followers seeking one-time access, or you may prefer our sizzling summer subscription offer for the Irish Examiner’s entire suite of content – including daily ePaper, GAA live streams, podcasts and acclaimed sports writing – for a stunning €5 per month, or €50 for 12 months."

€50 for 12 months is the best value (if you can afford it of course). €8 per game is robbery.

Ricken stepped back due to health issues so the most important thing is that hopefully all is OK on that front

It would be fantastic if the Cork County board started taking gaa seriously in the county and get the best systems in across the board for the Hurlers and footballers so that we can start working towards achieving something great again like winning an All Ireland in both codes. Kilkenny did brilliantly this year against Limerick in the final they were very competitive and had even a chance of even winning the game at the end. The All Ireland hurling final of 2021 was a joke in comparison and Cork hammered out the gate after 10 mins should have been seriously addressed going into 2022. But very little changes or improvements could be seen. Here's hoping to a better 2023.
