Even I can recognise that Boris Johnson is toast.

More resignations this morning, one is Quince who was sent into the firing line earlier in the week to lie for Johnson.

He doesn't dodge anything. He wields complete control over a system with no checks or balances and is supported by virtually the entirety of the British press. Since he's beginning to disgust the electorate en masse, they're now looking to bin him rather than risk a Labour government. That's all this is.

The Tory brand was toxic before all this, they tried populism and ended up even more toxic at the other side

But a aging population and constituency gerrymandering means that they will continue to win elections.

The one positive outcome from this debacle is that, should the heave against Johnson prove successful, it means that someone very capable, such as Rishi Sunak, can save the party from obliteration at the next General Election.

So if I were the Labour Party, I'd actively want Johnson to stay on for the next election.

The worst outcome from the Labour Party is Johnson resigning and Sunak taking over.

Weird thing about BoJo is that there's been plenty of points over the past year where another Tory leader might have seen the writing on the wall and taken the next exit ramp away from all of this. But he's not really a Tory Leader, or even a Prime Minister. He has those roles, but much like his American Cousin he's this self obsessed blonde hurrican of nonsense who wanted the title of high office but not bother with the actual job that comes with it.

It could be in the next day or so he'll actually resign, but after this past year I think I can only believe it when I see it. I fully expect him to dig his claws in and hold on for dear life. He got to be Prime Minister during a war, and I think he knows that it won't get better than this for him.

The Tories will have to use every trick they've got to kick him out and I feel this will become an increasingly public and embarrassing process for them. They were fools for not kicking him out when that had the chance.

"self obsessed who wanted the title of high office but not bother with the actual job that goes with it'

1 similarity he has with Micheal Martin

Here's hoping Bojo pulls a Trump and truly takes the piss out of relinquishing power. I want to see him go down in a long protracted blaze of glory and truly stain the fabric of British politics.

I think that will increase the likelihood of his successor being much less antagonistic towards NI/EU which is a double win.

3 more low to middle ranking resignations today, all relatively young and would be hoping to serve in a future cabinet and not have the boris stink on them, also rumors there are more similar ones to come as the day goes on

    Sunak?

The guy responsible for the highest UK tax burden in modern history?

    The "American" tax dodger?

That's the guy you think will be more palatable to the British Electorate?

I mean , given the utter shambles that is the British Electoral system he'd probably still be in with a better shot than either he or the Tories deserve , but the idea that he is "capable" just doesn't hold water.

If Labour and the Lib-Dems get properly organised and agree a program for government and lock down on an Electoral pact around tactical voting to ensure they push out the Tory candidate they should do very very well.

I mean without any of that in place they still garnered well over 50% of the votes between them the last time , with a bit of vote management and the fairly widespread hatred of the Tories right now a solid majority for a coalition should be readily achievable.

Michelle Donellan is Education Minister since yesterday, replacing Zahawi the new Chancellor.

Whilst I share everyone's delight at the clusterfck, I don't think we should exaggerate these minor resignations. Robin Walker (who I've never hear of) was presumably some junior non-cabinet role at the Dept of Education?

His resignation letter says he's the Minister of State for School Standards. So not the Education Minister, but still presumably a Cabinet Minister.

Sunak only looks capable on the back of furlough and his subsidies for super spreaders. Look beyond that and there's more than a whiff of US libertarian nonsense, crony capitalism and jobs for the boys. I expect them to push the diversity angle hard in such a scenario, proving that words and principles mean nothing to these people after they spent years stoking a culture war.

Anderson is a vile piece of work. He's a racist, has denied the existence of food bank usage and claims that one can eat well on 30p a day.

Even the most ardent Boris junkies here recognize that he’s toast; they have of course put their foot in it again saying that it’s about ensuring the party continues in every sense of Tory elitism. Johnson showed the project for what it is: a scam for the elites to tighten grip on power and resources to the detriment of democracy and the mass of people with a relatable front man. Mr Relatable is smoldering in the toaster.

Sunak was fined for attending partygate along with Boris. Then there’s the drama with his mega rich wife has potentially avoiding up to £20m in UK tax by being non-domiciled and pays £30,000 a year to keep the status. A month or two ago the British tabloids were running a story about his new pool costing 13k per year to heat.

A while ago he would have been firm favourite to take over. I think his link to partygate will turn off some MPs who are sick of hearing about it. The fact he’s the richest MP and the dealings of him and his wife is an easy attack card during the cost of living crisis which might turn off more Tory MPs.

Personally I think Richie Sunak looked at his and wifes Tax arrangements and thought, feck this, we're off to America.

Boris, ffs have some minute level of dignity and go. It's unreal, with every resignation it amplifies his inability to read the room.
