About 2-3 weeks ago I'd have agreed with you about Tool being better but APC's new album has really grown on me since then, so now I'm not so sure...

Both feckin' good bands whatever way you look at it.

Having heard stuff by both bands id have to go for APC. I think tool tend to write a handful of really good songs, a lot of filler, and cobble it together with a few "weird" bits and call it an album. And undertow is just a bad album, full stop. Ive enjoyed both APC albums tho, the new ones excellent.

Tool i'd have to say....tbh ... I love APC as well though...There new album is really good, it takes a while to grow on you.

    But two quality bands!
    :D

I find it really strange that these bands get compared a lot. I have to say. That in my opinion, the similarities between these two bands starts and stops with Maynard James Keenan. I see the two as two completely different types of music. lyrically and musically they are at other ends of the creative spectrum.
But to answer the question. Tool by far. And I cant see A Perfect Circle lasting beyond this album.

lol. it is true that both bands are basically different in the music scene. they are both great bands though. I would have to say Tool, better imo:ninja:

The reason they get compared is cause Maynard is in both as Sajan said....

The bands are poles apart........ Its just Maynard is common link between both so people need the feeling to compare.

They're very difficult to compare really - they play totally different styles of music. I'd say Tool are better at what they do though.

Mind you, before the second APC album, I would have voted for them easily. I thought "Thirteenth Step" was very disappointing. I voted for Tool now though.

i know what u mean about the tool songs but think of it this way a good tool song is like a truffle so rare but once found it is like greatness in one single object where as the apc songs are like a slap up meal very nice the whole way thru but nothing quite as special as a truffle

I just wish that Tool songs would go on for a nice 3 minutes and not a boring 10-20 minutes, so i prefer Perfect becuase they're less boring.

Its good that tool songs are long, most bands cd's are only 40 to 50 minutes long if even that, but tools are 80 minutes, so count urself lucky:)

As MJK himself says, APC is Tool for your little sister. Now if I had a little sister, who listened to APC I'd think she was great, lol! Both are jaw-droppingly amazing, but Tool will hold it for me!
