Wow pretty tough route for last year's finalists.

If its the Armagh that turned up against Donegal it may not be.

First team ot has home advantage. It's probably enough to se Mayo and Cork over the line. Tyrone should have enough for Armagh even though Armagh have home advantage. Clare's home might go e them an edge against.eath, But I would expect to see Clare through

I wouldn't be favouring Tyrone hugely. You have to question their hunger after winning it last year. Do they have the belief to go all the way with some players leaving the panel too. Armagh will be well up for it too.

Hmm Mayo are in trouble with this draw - if their injuries are to be believed. Where will their scores from play come from? Monaghan will keep the scoreboard ticking over. Armagh might take Tyrone but hard to know which Tyrone will appear.

The 4 strongest counties drawn against each other. A good chance for the likes of Meath to get a win.

Are repeat pairings allowed for round 2 and at the quarter final stage? Seemed odd that they were allowed in opening Tailteann Cup draw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,569 ✭✭✭✭Fr Tod Umptious

They are allowed in round two and in the quarter finals I believe.

But in the quarter finals stage there has always been a rule that the provincial finalists cannot meet again in the quarter finals.

So for example Dublin could play Meath in a quarter final but Dublin could not play Kildare in a quarter final.

I don't see why that would be changed.

IMO it's the provincial runners-up (which you wouldn't expect Kerry & Dublin to be) who will be especially happy. 50/50 chance they will draw Clare/Meath/Cork/Louth in the qualifiers.

What's the story in the 2nd round. Will provincial losers get home advantage ?

I think Clare will beat Meath, Clare are a decent outfit and I don't think Meath are any great shakes.

Also be interesting to see how Louth will get on against Cork. Cork were poor in the league, I didn't see the kerry game but you basically have 2 Division 2 teams facing off. If Louth get a good start they could turn Cork over.

So what's the alternative? Have Louth play Kilkenny in the Leinster championship and be beat by 50 points? tiered competitions are a must and as for lack of interest in them? Well that's always going to be a factor how many people went to Offaly Wexford in first round of Leinster? How many were at Limerick Clare in first round of Munster?

About 2700 at the Limerick/ Clare match. Both teams are going well at present and in D2. If it was 2-3 years ago at a guess 1500

The hurling round robin isn't helping counties like these either. Between money and booking time off I haven't been able to follow both in the championship so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,933 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

Yes they starting giving counties in Leinster outside of Dublin funds but to have any chance to catch up it needs to increase tenfold. Every year that goes by Dublin are still getting more funding. I'm not watching or paying any attention to the championship until it changes. Not been attending matches for 4 years now. Best decision I ever made. Waste of time supporting the corrupt system that favours Dublin in every way. The hurling is where it's at now.

And I'm not the only one. In my part of Meath and I assume the rest also nobody talks or cares about the football championship anymore or the eventual Dublin hammering in croker. Club football is more important now, after that it's hurling, soccer and rugby. The GAA successfully killed off the inter county spectacle in Meath.

A real shame because in its day the Leinster football championship was something else.

Let's say in 2034 Kildare pull off a shock and beat Dublin in the semis. Nobody will get excited because we all know they'll just walk it the next year and start another 20 year unbeaten streak.

Kildare are going to beat Dublin tomorrow sure, no need to wait til 2034

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,471 ✭✭✭_NAGDEFY

Dublin have improved so much since the league. They looked all over the shop.

At the start of the championship I thought Kildare would beat them. I don't now, they have a chance naturally.

Maybe it's just the opposition Dublin have played. We'll find out later.

We might still be unsure if it was the opposition or not after today too.

True enough. Like nearly every year in Leinster since 2005!

Hurry on Munster final. This Ladies football is very disappointing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,952 ✭✭✭Coillte_Bhoy

The day Kildare beat them in the league i backed them to win Leinster at 4/1, thinking it was good price at the time as Dublin were in freefall, just checked now and they are 7/1 😏

This Munster final is like watching a game of basketball so far. Putrid stuff handpass hand pass

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,194 ✭✭✭Jarhead_Tendler

Good score by brosnan there. Hopefully the game will improve

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,194 ✭✭✭Jarhead_Tendler

Wonderful score from Spillane but this is such a hard watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,803 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Kerry only going through the motions really but who expected any different.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,237 ✭✭✭Pussyhands

All too easy for Kerry here in 2nd gear.

Kerry could win this by 20+ if they bother.

Feel sorry for the poor big full forward for limerick, nothing going right for him.
