    This may seem like a stupid question but I've been tasked with the job of setting up a TV in a spare room in my mothers house. All it needs is the standard Irish free to air channels...there is no TV outlet in the room so is there any legal way I can get the basic channels on the TV. Is there any box that an I can install for such things?

    If the TV has a digital terrestrial tuner (and if it’s been made in the last ten years it should have) then you maybe able to get a Saorview signal using a “rabbits ears” aerial. That will give you about ten channels - RTE, VMTV, TG4 and Sky News.

    if an older tv you may have to purchase a Saorview box available in all the usual electrical stores.

    The likes of this may do the job once your TV supports Saorview, anything purchased in the last 10 years should support it.
