Averaging 8.9kwh the last few days, and the forecast not overly overly optimistic for the rest of the month.

Still consumption is down about a third the last week (less electric heating in use in the offices) , so lessening the impact.

1350kWh since install mid Jan with 100% consumption 😏 so not too bad overall.

That's great generation and self consumption, nice one

Ended up with 18.5kwh today and noticed one nice thing with the bigger battery.

With the 5kwh it would get full quickly and then export small amounts sporadically, under 1000w, just not enough to put any extra load on it, and it would fluctuate, 0-1000w due to clouds and could end up trickle exporting 3 - 4kwh easily during the course of the day.

But now all that got soaked in the battery which only went to 55% but will easily last until the morning or even lunch time tomorrow.

Is there any update on getting paid for what we export to the grid. I thought it would be in place before now.

Was away for a few days during the beautiful weather 2 weeks ago and it was so frustrating to see everything generated being donated. 😭😭

Frustrating to see the loss of 3 - 5c per unit ???

I hope people aren't oversizing systems thinking they'll be paying for your system from excess.

The only excess export worth anything is Net Metering

It's just the usual dragging on. One supplier is offering 13.5c currently but their import rates are atrocious.

Rumour that other providers will have rates in place by the end of the summer but I wouldn't hold my breath.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,821 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

I'm pretty sure there will be the odd gombeen but the rates that you will have to pay in order to avail of FIT will make it financially a disaster. Best to plan your install to max self consume, DIY batteries if necessary.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 894 ✭✭✭eclipsechaser

Sorry to be so ignorant but what does an import rate mean in this context?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,890 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

Export is power going from your property to the grid, so import is the unit rate that you pay for power bought FROM the grid. The company in question are giving 13.5c for export, but charge nearly 40c for import.

Not bad for a sunless day the other day 😂

    image.png

2 days without import and 34% left 🤘

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,890 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

Forecast has been a mess the last few days. Yesterday was supposed to be a stinker but I still got 12.2kWh, today was supposed to be sunny all day, I'm currently only on 12.9kWh.

An unexpected 35kw today, nice when the forecast is wrong.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,602 ✭✭✭SD_DRACULA

Got 26kw here which was higher than 22 predicted. Dumped 17.5kw into the battery so it should easily last over night but tomorrow is expected to be around 30kw so will need to drain it somehow, car waiting on 10kwh of that already.

No import since last Wednesday which is pretty sweet given the brutal weather (except the odd 0.5 here and there since the inverter is not that accurate and still shows 0 for those days but my CT on the mains says otherwise)

22kwhr generated with 14kwhr into the car and 2kwhr to eddi. Surprising given the weather forecast. Wexford on 6.8w system

Tomorrow (Tuesday) looks pretty good for Dublin, but Weds according to met.ie has the highest readings of the year so far forecasted.

Inverter software chat moved over to the hints & tips thread.

Just over 24kWh for me today. Second best day of a pretty poor month. Had family over for a late Easter dinner today so charged overnight as the forecast was poor. Ended up with a scorcher, so the oven was in use for 4+ hours and I still made it to midnight with 68% left.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,662 ✭✭✭bullit_dodger

Yup - looks like the forecast I posted on Monday for today was spot on. Gonna be a lot of happy people out there today. Not yet solar noon here for me and my bigger array is West facing and I'm already at 9Kwhr. Pretty sure it'll be a record setter for me since my 5.3Kwp install last Oct.

    Old record was 21.38 kwhr

(yes, yes.... you folks with the south facing arrays can easily beat that, but you got to work with what you have!)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,602 ✭✭✭SD_DRACULA

Estimated 37kwh for today and I'd say won't be far off, 15kws already and batteries full, car full, resorting to turning on all sort of rads, really don't want to see 20kwh exported 😣

Ha ha, boil the kettle and make Jelly! Turn the stat up on your immersion....squeeze ever last drop out

Immersion is long gone (probably why I always have a ton of excess) ha

Didn't pick the best day to do some rewiring and tidying in my solar shed in preparation of batteries. Lots of sun today at least means I'm warm 😁

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,178 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

Already put 25% into the car today!! and along with the 20% that went in yesterday, that's about 22kWh in total!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,890 ✭✭✭✭DrPhilG

24.8kWh so far, 11kWh into the battery and 5kWh in the car.

Washed & dried everything I can get my hands on.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,821 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

Was looking great today until around 3:30 when the clouds rolled in, two washes done, breakfast and dinner, 3 showers and 17kW into the car, should fall across the 30kWh figure for the first time this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,444 ✭✭✭championc

Never saw a cloud all day. 22.5kW generated

This is how I got on today so far

Still at 1.3kW now....not too bad

    Almost a record day.

Weather aside, there are at least 6 hours now in the day with 5.5kWh+ potential (going by the Solis app graph) . Will be hitting big numbers by May
