Bye bye BoJo and his sidekick lapdog Sunak. I don't there will be many teary eyes on this side of the Irish Sea, seeing these two go. Wonder what the tory media will react to this, will they turn on their media darlings? The Tories are in deep sh1te, you would think that Michael Gove or Dominic Raab will be the frontrunners for PM? Sajid Javid, Priti Patel possibly too? Not exactly earthshattering IMO for the Labour party. Starmer may well get his chance at Number 10 afterall.

I forgot to mention Jeremy Hunt but he is not part of BoJo's cabinet so that might go against him re Tory leader ambitions.

Raab was already taken out in a scandal so i'de say he's a none runner.

Also I can't believe they were arrogant enough to have the PMs official photographer along to take pics of Johnson's illegal birthday party. What were the photos possibly gonna be for. Were they gonna be kept in a secret spot under the bed like a teens porn or something.

Labour got a 31 seat majority on 35% of the vote in 2005, but that was back when they had Scotland sewn up. In all irony the Conservatives having an interim leader at the time probably tipped the scales.

Roger Gale, who was one of the first Conservative MPs to publicly call for Boris Johnson to resign over Partygate earlier this year, has said that he does not think the PM should go now, because of the Ukraine crisis,

"I am not prepared to give Vladimir Putin the comfort of thinking that we are about to unseat the prime minister of the United Kingdom and destabilise the coalition against Putin."

The official party line is rabble rabble Ukraine rabble rabble.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,780 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

There was actually a report that he was gagging to get to Ukraine for weeks now. It was called a surprise visit but the only surprise to me was that he wasnt cosplaying in a military uniform.

I think the Tories will sweep all this under the carpet with Ukraine being their crutch. Its not sure if they can now get the 56 MPs letters that are required to hold a vote of no confidence and even if they did its even less certain that 50% of Tory MPs would vote him out anyway. They have local elections coming up soon so that plays a factor too, itd be a bad time to change leader. Its looking like 'Operation Save Big Dog' has worked.

The local elections coming up is bad for Johnson not a reason to keep him. Councillors in marginals are gonna be taking it in the neck on the doorsteps and are gonna be sweating over this.

I was fully surprised he wasnt dressed up in full army camo like that toad mark francois did in police gear when he went on a Met ride along.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,385 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

The MET now saying these fines relate only to Johnson's birthday.

More fines to come and may include fines for people already named today. Could end up with multiple fines for Johnson.

The cynic in me thinks this explains the leak against the Sunaks last week.

Who replaces Boris? Sunak was the obvious candidate but he's not anymore. There is no clear replacement. I wonder who leaked the information about the Sunaks' tax and Green Cards...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,254 ✭✭✭✭El_Duderino 09

On the contrary. It could help him by appearing to be a bit of a clean break from Johnson. A new broom without needing an election.

The other candidates mentioned above include, Patel, raab, Gove, Sunak and probably a few others. I can see the English Tory voters buying Rees-Mogg (similar to Trump where the very poor and the very wealthy would be most enthusiastic about him). He's be incredibly devisive, but what's new?

Oh I’d say the other parties in Westminster are just hoping that somehow Patel could be leader because there was an opinion poll of Conservative party members and was the only one to get a negative rating. She’s universally disliked.

I would quite happily put my house on it not being Patel. The latest fiasco should cost her her job, but she clearly has some photos of Boris somewhere.

Nadhim Zahawi or Ben Wallace would be my choice, but it is likely to be Liz Truss or Tom Tugendhat.

Unfortunately cockroaches always find away to survive

    He wont resign

It's a wide-open field - and difficult from an analysis viewpoint as we don't know whether it's a vacancy that will need to be filled in 7 weeks time or not until 7 years from now.

But it's effectively 6/1 the field with Truss, Tugenhat, Hunt, Wallace, Sunak, Mordaunt, Javid all near the top of the market, but a load of somewhat plausible candidates around the 20/1-40/1 mark. JRM an outsider at 66/1, more kingmaker than king probably.

But the actual winner may be a barely known 100/1 shot because of the time question.

The fact that there isn't a frontrunner reduces the chances of anyone challenging. They don't want an election because it's an unnecessary risk. If Sunak was mega popular then it could be a quick, bloodless coup. Now they would need a drawn out leadership contest where they all try to publicly drown each other in the mud.

They will probably just allow Boris to carry on to save the spectacle of a wide open leadership contest.

Curious the "Richie" Sunak yet to respond, comment 🤔, could he be resigning, had enough 🤔

    But a more Perplexing Question,

Is this Chaps Hair Real 😳

First time I ever saw him I thought he was Harry Enfield doing a Johnson sketch.

Top marks to Ian Blackford today for using Churchill of all people as a reason why Johnson has to go

Blackford also pointed out that Neville Chamberlain was replaced as prime minister by Winston Churchill in 1940, while the second world war was underway, “because he was not considered to be fit for purpose”.

Still not a Peep out of Richie Sunak, perhaps he doesn't see the need to apologise 🤔, I'm guessing he's going. I think Boris was Clever to apologise immediately, he seems to getting "Reluctant" support from Tory MP"s, can't see him being pushed, Putin's actions we're a blessing for him him as distasteful as that is.

Time for old Bortis Johnson to go. I have no idea who will replace him do. Put as long as it's not that hideous nasty Micheal Gove chap I don't care.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

I believe Fabricant admits to a transplant, but not to a wig.

Which is probably true. I mean, if you were going to buy a wig, would you buy that wig?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,254 ✭✭✭✭El_Duderino 09

So is it a transplant that went really, really well? Or really, really badly?
