A quick Google says that the H21 movement is basically a Valjoux 7750 so not uncommon.

You could try Dawson Jewellers, they sorted a Seamaster for me before after I similarly dropped one on a wooden floor and it was acting up. They serviced and repaired it but only charged me for a service.

Or Chris in watchfix/iChrono, plenty of us have dealt with him.

Bored with it already or afraid they might not hold their value longer term? Planning to put it on chrono or offer to WF or dare I say it, to the lads in Belfast on consignment? 😁

Cool watch, but wouldn't be for me. Best of luck with sale.

Sending it to Belfast hopefully tomorrow.

Saves me having to take any pictures or engage with any numpties and that’s worth a lot.

It really does make a difference IMO. Especially if you negotiate a decent %

Oh god its worth so much. I dont know how dealers or the adverts regulars deal with it all the time. No wonder half of them end up cranky bastards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,857 ✭✭✭893bet

I didn’t bother changing the percentage. I just said what I wanted to net to me. Don’t care what they add then to make on top. If they want to drop the price after that to sell my expectation will be for me to get the same net or I will just take it back.

    Speaking of cranky dealers.

Thought my line of questioning as legitimate. Was trying to establish if it was a 16713 or 16713t or if they are the same thing even.

he has it relisted and is now saying the watch was left to him

hes coming across as a strange chap on adverts but he is okay in person, i think he is too old to be dealing on adverts lol

    The internet isn’t for everyone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,571 ✭✭✭Fitz II

He gets a bit cranky alright. I think the watch is genuine, but I cannot figure out the reference on it and the service card tells one story and the warranty card tells another. Something not quite right. While I appreciate that there are a lot of tyre kickers on adverts, asking 12k for a watch mean you have to do some leg work.

It's insane to not expect a buyer to do due diligence on a watch worth thousands. The first step of that would be to find out the exact model number so you can do some research on the value of the watch.

Left to him is also strange. Especially as he is clearly a dealer. I have figured he is prob close to 60 based on his “35 year” relationship with Keanes.

you have to give his feedback the give his feedback the benefit of the doubt.

I was actually semi interested. When you consider a gmt Pepsi is hitting 30k these look like almost value. Not to wear for me but cash in the bank grows smaller daily.

Happens a lot on adverts. Ichrono never lists them. Clearly on purpose as he obviously knows the ref numbers. As if it stops people being able to search to assess price etc?

whats the betting here one of the cards lists 16713 and one lists 16713t ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,581 ✭✭✭✭unkel

Not so sure if iChrono knows the ref numbers. I remember he got called out on one recently he got wrong and his excuse was he didn't have the papers so he didn't know what exact model it was 🤨

What's the issue with it ? Its not a 2009 ,its f serial so 04 or 05 but apart from his mistake on the year and the wrong box I cant see any issues

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,857 ✭✭✭893bet

The seller is a dealer so my expectation is that he has the required information to accurately describe the item.

    1) He states it to be 2009 ( not to say it couldn’t have languished for years before sale of course). It’s only in the last 5 years all Rolex models sells like hot cakes. You would have gotten a discount on this 5 years ago. Does he have the warranty card or not to be able to state it as being 2009.

    2) Wrong box and he didn’t even know it.

    3) Strange story about the original card being in jewellery’s still despite the watch being back from service to have images taken with the service card, not withstanding the box and papers would not usually be taken by the AD as not worth the hassle minding them.

    4) Refusal to answer what the model number is as I suspect there is a discrepancy between the two cards and he is avoiding purposely at this point.

    5) at another point he said he can’t find the original warranty card (now story is it’s in the jewellers)

    6) Story is now is was “left the watch”. You see these types of stories regularly on fakes etc. not saying this is but it’s a cover used to try and absolve the seller of responsibility for the item almost.

he avoided a similar line of question on this add below for the same watch

All needs to do is give the reference number (pretty sure its the t version) and say it has service papers....thats enough to allay fears. All these stories and slagging off people for not being able to afford it, and slagging off a 10k offer makes him seem like an ass. The watch I would guess is fine, but he is not creating a good feeling around the watch. i have looked at it several times on adverts as its likely an undervalued model...but really its the ceramic bezel version that is the one to get.

The ad or comments must have been edited .There's none of those points coming up that I can see but understandable the doubt when the sellers carry on like that. The wrong box and date was enough to put me off it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,571 ✭✭✭Fitz II

On a side note...I have incoming. I have been given out to before for making people guess, but sure it just a bit of fun. I am sort of revisiting a watch I had before and churning the Zenith Defy into it. Hint its an unkle worthy size and sub 10k. Special prize for anyone that guesses correctly....836Bet not allowed cause he already knows.

I would have said Panerai too! Never heard you say anything about Breitling. So I guess that is out. Mind I never said anything (good) about Breitling except that many of their dials are crazy busy, but I do fancy a few of them alright. I'll defo get one at some point.
