WORDLE

As someone who did get SLOSH in 2, let me just use it to show the difference in people's perception of a fluke/unlikely result, and the actual reality.

My first word was AROSE, which gave me green matches on OS. According to a wordle solver, there are 21 words matching that pattern.

Taking into account the unmatched ARE, brings us down to just 6 possible solutions (five of which require a double letter).

My usual second word wouldn't have helped with thinning the field, so slosh seemed worth a punt.

It overlapped with ghost, floss, and gloss, and if I got no match, would have pointed me at boost. I admit kiosk had escaped me as an option.

Sometimes the solution space is smaller than you would think, depending on the first word.

It's a little bit luck, sure. But 1 in 6 is hardly lottery winning odds.

It's also strategy though. What guess gains me the most information if it's wrong?

Kiosk tells you nothing, you still have 5 choices.

Boost can overlap with Ghost, but if it doesn't you still have 4.

Slosh or Ghost were the two best picks there by my reckoning.
