Unclaimed/naked farmland

Hello all,

I'm wondering what peoples opinions are on availability of unclaimed ('naked') ground around the north west at present? Is it virtually impossible to get now? I have been looking for some hill ground to rent/lease and have the option of availing of the national reserves through the Young Farmers Scheme.

How would you approach someone and ask them do they have naked ground they are willing to lease without being chased! Is there any resource to find out if land is claimed/unclaimed?

Local auctioneer is only one I can think off, esp one you sells cattle in mart as well as land

+1 on that, a lot of land is let by auctioneers without ever being advertised, so enquire from every auctioneer and mart you know, a lot of land will be let this month so you'd need to be moving on it. Notice boards in marts is a good place to look too, Tullamore marts' noticeboard would be full of lettings this time of year
