Mary, Mary, War's Quite Scary: The Late Late Show-Friday 11th March 2022

Not ONE Mary, but TWO Marys, will grace us, not only with their presence, but also their ineffable and not at all hypocritical exhortations that WE ALL NEED TO DO MORE.

This weeks topic du jour is of course Ukraine and the hellish goings on over there.

If only we could get Miggeldy to refer to himself as Mary (after all, it was Gaybo's middle name), we could potentially look forward to the prospect of a triumvirate of Marys, a trio of our betters all talking at us and telling us off.

"Former presidents of Ireland, Mary Robinson and Mary McAleese, will appear on this Friday night's Late Late Show to speak about the war in Ukraine."

Meanwhile, RTE's own Tony Connelly gives us the latest from the front line, the front line being somewhere in Northern Poland. (To be fair to Tony, he IS one of the better ones).

Book boner incoming, as the ever lovely Dolly Parton-can't say a bad word about her, Zooms in to plug a book, with James Patterson, who writes books. Hobbidy likes books, did you know that kids?

She still has it, however good her surgeon is.

I'm just beside myself with excitement at tonights line up , what precisely the Two Mary's can tell us about the Ukranian Crisis is beyond me. Mary Robinson might however enlighten the nation as to what she was thinking , re the Dubai Princess PR disaster 🤔 but of course Tubs would never go there.

I like Tony connelly, reliable, consistent, knowledgeable, traits not to be found in most Senior RTE correspondents.

I had expected to see the Irish Medical student who just escaped Ukraine to appear and Tub wet himself with excitement, but I'm sure shes exhausted and besides being in the presence of Tubs for more than a few minutes would have been hell in comparison to what's she's just been through.

This should take no more than 30 minutes airtime, surely 🤔

As far as Riffin Ryan is concerned the war only effects people who 'look like us' so it wouldn't fit in with his view of the world. He wouldn't be able to sightly tilt his head forwards and look up at her from under his eyebrow to give the impression that he empathises with her as he doesn't really think that people who don't 'look like us' feel the effects of war in their cities the same as 'we' do.

Incidently I think she is very brave and must have an amazing story to tell and I would love to hear it through a competent / normal person carrying out the interview.

Former Irish President Mary McAleese was paid a pension of €137,749.14 in 2015, the Irish Department of Finance has revealed.

McAleese was the eighth President of Ireland, and was in office from 1997 until 2011.

In addition, the President before McAleese, Mary Robinson, who served as president from 1990 to 1997, was paid a pension of €121,158.72 in 2015.

Never took to Mary Robinson, very aloof, off handish, lost a lot of respect and credibility after that Dubai Stunt.

Mary McAleese was like an annoying Aunt, chummy with everyone , she's gone a bit odd since leaving office , on a very strange and at times bitter rampage against the Catholic Church in Ireland.
