Parcel sent to UK instead of Ireland

I was expecting an item from Spain which was correctly posted to Ireland by the sender. However, it ended up in the UK and is just stuck at Heathrow. Will Royal Mail redirect it back to Ireland or do I need to chase it up with them? Tia.

Possibly it simply has scanned in Heathrow as a transit stop and then is forwarded on to Dublin.

Thanks. It hasn't moved from there in about a week now. The sender is blaming a post office worker for mistakenly sending it to the UK.

Surely if you haven't received the item it is the sellers responsibility to chase.

Royal Mail should just redirect to Ireland, can't see where there's an issue, lots of post gets misdirected.

They will eventually. Might take a while. Happened to me before, sender put all my address (including eircode) correctly but country as United Kingdom.. 😅

Yes pre Eircode I had couple of items mis-sent to Iceland and delayed by weeks. I don't know whether it's better to use Republic Of Ireland in address instead to avoid confusion.

I always say Republic so it doesn’t get sent to the north by accident haha.

Well, bear in mind also it may have left but can be sitting in dublin for a while before the containers go through customs and are scanned as in Ireland.

it doesn’t always get scanned in a hurry especially if there’s a bit of a backlog, to my knowledge there have been significant enough delays on parcels coming in from the UK.
