Shows the enormous gap between the new generation and the golden trio. A prime Medvedev wouldn't have got a sniff when those 3 were at their peak 10 years ago.

The debate is over lads. 35, coming back from a 6 month career threatening injury, his worst slam, against the inform player on the planet, 5 hour match.

This man is a machine, and an inspiration. GOAT.

Bad day for all the Federer blowhards on here

I think I could beat Nadal at table tennis.

The next gen really are so poor, Nadal at his least favourite slam, at 35, coming back from a long layoff and 2 sets down is still able to beat the "best of the next gen", I suppose Medvedev can console himself in that he's the best of a bad lot!

I wonder will Djokovic get jabbed now for France or is willing to wait it out and hope to get a few more slams when this all blows over.

Either way his own fault really but it definitely diluted the win for Nadal not having to beat the best.

Medvedev just isn’t a Nadal, Federer or Djokovic. He’s an amazing player of course but he’s not at their level. For Christ sake Nadal is about 102 years old and fucked with injuries and he still beat him.

The men’s division is in a shocking place when the big three at some point decide to retire. There’s just no outstanding quality there. A lot of good solid players but not at the level we’ve been blessed with in the past decade or so.

edit … I wonder what all the Nadal fans shouting GOAT will say when Djokovic inevitably does overtake him. Oh it’s ok Nadal has the “nicest” strokes. **** me, this sport.

Medvedev has some questions to ponder I think, it was put up to him and he couldn't close the deal. he will win a fari few slams once Nadal/Djokvic sign off as he seems to be a cut above whomever will be left.

Magnificent by Nadal, nice to see him get his nose in front after chasing Federer for so long, and then looking like he was going to be surpassed by Djokovic. He was very good this week.

Overall not a classic tournament, but a fine finale more than makes up for it.

Never thought in a million years he'd make it to 21 with his age and his injury problems. He's amazing.

What do you mean he didn't beat the best? Medvedev hammered Djokovic in the last grand slam final you absolute clown.

Will the women get the same prize money? Travesty if they do.

    Order of GOATS - 1. Federer, 2 - Djokovic, 3 - Nadal, 4 - Man vs ManUre.

Least successful slam. He has been to 6 Aus finals. And so close in a few of them. Beaten by exceptional players..on any other day he could be a 4-5 time Aus slam winner.

Would you get a grip. There’s championship football clubs that have beaten premiership teams on their day. Does that mean they’re great? No a once off is what it is when one team plays out of their skin and the other has a mare.

You can’t honestly be telling me Medvedev is as good as Djokovic?!

He is nowhere near the level of the top 3. Absolutely nowhere near them.

The only one to come next or near them in the past while is Murray who put his body on the line by training out of skin for years, finally beat them, get to number 1 and then his body to fall apart because he wasn’t as naturally talented and fucked himself up overtraining etc.. No way he could sustain being equal with them.

Medvedev is clearly currently at Djokovics tennis level you clown. Djokovic not being there does not dilute rafas win. Look at the pre tournament odds , Medvedev was outright favourite ahead of Djokovic to win this slam. Clearly you don't watch much tennis.

    Sad sad day

You would have to favour him for the calendar slam now.

At least French and USO is pretty much guaranteed for him.

And his foot is fixed, that was the only injury nagging him over the last few years.

I would say he could easily end up on 30/35 slams.

He may as well be a 21 yo again.

He is some competitor Nadal, the heart of a lion, never beaten.

I only saw the last 2.5 sets of the match.

Medvedev seemed to tire and didnt win many cheap points, he played too many ill advised drop shots in the 3rd and 4th set.

    Nadal played very well.

There is no shame in losing for Medvedev, he played well.

I'm going to Roland Garros 4th round. Was hoping Nadal would have a quiet start to the season and drop outside the top 8 so there was a chance he'd meet Djokovic that day, not gonna happen now!

I think someone else is the one on the drugs!😅

    He will not win FO!

Firstly stop calling me a clown. Very disrespectful.

Secondly we’re all entitled to our opinion. I disagree with yours.

Djokovic is a multi slam winning player and most likely will end up being the GOAT whether people like it or not. Personally I don’t care who is.

For what it’s worth I watch plenty of tennis and have played the sport all my life.

I stand by my opinion that Medvedev is a distant 4th in the men’s game right now and furthermore I don’t believe he’ll win slams until the big three aren’t competing which is tbh a real shame as it shows the disaster of a tour it’s become. Nearly as bad as the womens but that’s a whole other story.

Nadal has only loss 8 of all the Grand SLam finals he has ever played in, way less that Federer, and Novak .

He's hard to win against in a final
