How do I get the Free Travel Pass?

I applied for DA in June, was rejected, appealed, and was awarded in November.

My initial understanding was that it would automatically be sent out. However, the last form of contact I got from the DSP was a letter telling me how much I was due in backpay, which I got.

I'm under 66.

If your PSC ID was fully verified before you were awarded DA it should be automatic.

If it hasn't arrived maybe filling an FT1 will work:

They have an email/ phone on that page if you want to ask first incase there is some other issue.

I don't have a PSC ID, so I may have to fill out the FT1 form. I just didn't want to fill one out in case the FTP was in the works and they have a huge backlog or something.

You can’t get the FT without the PSC so you’ll have to apply for that and you’re free travel will be included on it.

I was curious about that also, OP would be better off just getting a PSC , I'm guessing when issued , it will have the FT marked on it 🤔

Yes because the Dept issuing the card will see that the person is on a qualifying payment so FT will apply. Sending off a free travel application form will only result in a letter in response telling the applicant to apply for a PSC.

UPDATE:

I went to the local intreo centre today with necessary documentation and my ID. I'll have my Free Travel "enabled" PSC next week.

Was given a appointment to attend for the PSC card in August , and had everything filled out and then ended up in Hospital and had to cancel the appointment.

Went to go into the local office today to apply for the card and had all the details with me, but I was told I will be sent out a appointment as they had none today.

What’s the interview like for this ? For some reason I’ve worked myself up over it, knowing I don’t need to. Or am I wrong ?

I brought ID with me and proof of address. That was all I needed.

I just went up. No appointment or anything. Had to fill out a SAFE registration form, get my picture taken, and my ID photocopied. That was it.

PSC came in the post 4 days after.

Honestly it's very straightforward and absolutely nothing to worry about, it's not an interview as such, more a thouragh verification of your identity and photo taken, just be sure to have all your documentation, ID, POA, etc
