Look sure we'll see what happens. I ordered 2 cases so am prepared to take the risk for the greater good. If it doesnt get through i'll do a charge back. Shocking stuff that 24 bottles of 500ml krombacher is almost 74 quid here. You couldnt justify it.

Almost sure it's going to be against the law but good initiative either way. I could see a lot of the independent off licenses going this way. Would be hard to see Tesco etc doing it. In anyways I'd rather pay the MUP price for Heineken than 30 quid for Bud. The Carlsberg export is a strange one. You wouldn't see that in Ireland a lot.

I didn't think vouchers etc could be used. If Credit Notes are being used here if it's not illegal then watch this space.

Claimed to be a credit note. It will be interesting to see how it pans out, or if additional legislation is required. And if additional legislation is needed what impact it would have on other areas where credit notes are issued.

What a fabulous way around the law, very clever. Can't see anything illegal as it's credit note/gift card rather than promo voucher. Only issue for the shop is if a smart alec insists on using the credit note for their regular shopping.......

Seems contrary to the spirit of the single market but I understand there are derogations within EU law for certain products.

VRT is a glaring one to be honest. Incredible that I cant buy a car in France or Germany for example. Mad stuff really.

but you can buy a car in France, you just have to pay a big fee to register it here and you can't drive it legally without registering it.

booze is just a foodstuff; if I can buy it in France and bring it home in my car without paying any duty, I don't see why I can't get it delivered by a courier for personal consumption. You now have the anomaly that people will be going North to put money into the pocket of the UK exchequer, but can't order directly from an EU company. It seems ripe for challenge in the EU courts.

I should be able to buy anything in a true single market and not have to pay a penny back here extra. It's not a single market. Try to put 3000 fags in your case coming back from Spain and see how you do.

The normal person would simply ignore that at €12 and select a far better wine in Aldi or Lidl for €7.99

You can be guaranteed that there will be 33% off that muck soon enough. €12 is an artificial high price to fool people into thinking they are getting value at a promo price of €7.99.

But the anti mup brigade will continue to search and search for unrealistic comparisons.

Mup simply does not affect the vast vast majority of people.

They were regularly discounted below MUP.

ALDI and LIDL had non muck wines below €8 for €6 and €7 euros. ALDI had Ardfallen whiskey with an RRP of €19. Tesco had Manislav lager for €1.50 rrp. LIDL had Oettinger Pils for 89c. Please explain how they are 'muck'.

TO suggest the vast vast majority of people are not affected - considering the number of people who purchase a branded item below MUP, or such products in Tesco, LIDL, ALDI - is completely without foundation.

You can't even come up with a definition of what is and isn't "muck", just your own personal snobbery.

You can't buy a credit note - it's usually offered as part of a refund for change. What he needs to do is the sell the cups, then encourage people to go through the refund process and receive a credit note.

It's all for publicity but it does raise accounting issues(at least).

Council Directive 2008/118/EC, Article 36 directly covers the distance selling of alcohol across borders and makes it a requirement that excise duty be paid in the destination country.

So either the seller has an arrangement with the Irish state to collect Irish excise duties (it's clear mybooze.eu doesn't) or anything you buy from them is liable to be seized by Irish customs.

Thank god someone’s actually sticking to what the thread is meant for.

This thread has turned into an absolute sh1t show since MUP.

Surely that talk could be put in a new thread mods leaving this for actual bargains north or south instead of the pages and pages of whining with those for and against MUP getting their digs in.

I’ll be buying a bottle of Makers thanks to Ablelocks.

Amazon Germany will deliver some spirits here. Decent deals on whiskeys like Redbreast 12 €48, Green Spot €42, Black Bush €22.

It's 12 quid delivery so you'd want to buy a few to make it worthwhile 😃

Presume with it being amazon they'll have the customs piece sorted so should be fine.

You can only bring one litre of spirits (per adult) into the EU duty free from Great Britain so it's not a very practical option.

Our Cork friend got a 'visit' today after the story broke and decided to cease his promotion. I'd have supported his 'gofundme' if he had one. Hopefully one of the big boys decides to take the risk and bring it to court if necessary.
