Overhead door closer

My bedroom door has an overhead closer and just a little while ago on my way out I discovered that the arm has detached from the part that is on the door.

I haven’t been at it so I’m guessing it was loose for some reason and that when I last came it it came apart.

As best I can tell this is the closer

except that shows the closer is connected on the left side, on my door it is on the right side.

I would be okay reattaching it but there is a part missing. I don’t know what to call it - a metal “tube” that goes between the arm and the part on the door. :p

I have searched in the room throughly and no sign of it. It could have fallen out into the corridor but no sign of it out there either.

Would the parts on door closer be universal between brands?

I'm reading that it is: " Can be used for left and right hand doors"
