Android head unit vs android auto

Seems pointless to me to have an android head unit when android auto exist. Anyone know the advantages of an android head unit?

Can you link to an Android auto unit? I've to get something for a mk4 golf. Looking at double din with Bluetooth obviously. Any hints lads?

Looks like about €300 is needed for a double din entry level. I think when you're used to a phone screen it may disappoint. Android ones seem to have the apps loaded on, but I would imagine that managing that it a pain.
