It's not just 100km extra range.

the LR has a better sound system and 4 wheel drive.

    and fog lamps 🤷.

but I think the point is valid. The LR not quite as compelling now for some drivers given the price diff. I have a 2019 M3LR and kinda 👀 at the base 2022 M3 with interest. Would miss the poke tho’

Very similar situation as a 1.8 GSR lancer and an Evo V.

Both the same car, but very different beasts with one being FWD and the other 4WD. about 10k in the difference when they were new, also.

I've driven all 3 versions of the model 3,

    6,000 kms in a LR

    50,000 kms in a Performance

and test drove a Model 3 SR for a few hundred kms,

The SR+ is a quick car, quicker than most modern hot hatches

The LR has more power, better sound system & the AWD makes it feel planted

The Performance just is a total Rocket, most people will feel sick at full tilt & the acceleration is unreal & it keeps pulling & pulling......

When I was student I got into a 10 years old punto and I was "I don't understand why people need more newer and expensive cars"

Few year later I got into a near new I was "I don't understand people buying new and paying full price"

Fast forward today sitting in a LR I'm saying "I don't understand people buying Merc EQS 580 4matic" hoping my previous errors to become a rule.

They are both 4WD but the evo's would be better system. Also I do not know the price difference as I'm pretty sure the 1.8 GSR was only available in Japan.

I never test-drove the Perf but the LR's acceleration is really balanced I feel. It's quick but not ridiculously so and always feels planted. Typical example is an overtaking on damp conditions when you start to overtake a car and then oncoming traffic appears: It always have power reserve allowing you to just floor it when needed and you can safely finish the maneuver without any drama.

Couple of Performance Models added to inventory today, I'd be amazed if they get all these (inc. the LR's) away by the 31st.

Majority of RWD specs have now slipped to an estimated delivery of March 2022.

White remains May 2022 for now

I picked up my LR yesterday and got an email soon after to say I'd been given 1 year free premium connectivity. Was delighted with that as was really only expecting a month!

Getting ready now for delivery day next week and looking forward to it. Couple small questions:

    • I won't have a home charge point setup before delivery. Does the M3 ship with the correct 3pin connector just to plug it into normal socket?
    • Does the car come with mud guards? I through I read or saw a YT clip that they install them standard for certain countries

    Cheers

Yes it comes with a Type 2 cable for AC charging away from home and a granny cable for charging from any socket.

Preconditionig is not for the light hearted

    image.png

Is the highest consumption rate I've ever seen on this car. I won't probably use it unless for Ionity or SuC or maybe J14 but not on SPOF locations.

Must say since I've done the acceleration boost on my 2020 LR, it feels, as far as I can tell driving it, exactly like the Perf that I had on loan for a few days recently.

1x RWD model 3 just appeared in stock.

Silver, 19” alloys and white interior (€54,155)

That’s the guy (a Boardsie) who cancelled his SR order last week and swapped it for a black Performance.

Also this FSD ex-demo bargain 😂

Na not mine my order, was grey with black interior and aero wheels, looks like it's gone already

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,247 ✭✭✭sk8board

Bizarre. About €8k above a brand new LR with no FSD roughly, and 10,000km of demo driver miles on the clock?!

Some naive person is about to get rolled.

FSD is going to depreciate like any other extra here on Irish roads where it’s usage is just so limited over what you get as standard; and if it ever became useful here in the lifetime of the car, it can be added.

I'm getting the following when logging into my account, previously I didn't have a delivery date and it was estimated to be Feb '22.

Is the 15th of January date accurate? I'd need to get moving on a few things if it is.

I have the exact same message on my account, I told them I wouldn’t be ready to take a delivery in December and they put it on hold.

Jan 15th won’t be the delivery date, more likely March

When were Esb and IONITY charge points added to the Tesla map ? I never used the feature much, but noticed yesterday the addition of both …. Saves using zap map

also noticed sandyford supercharger is finally under construction

Was up there at the weekend - seems like good progress already but its a very tight site so can understand why there is only 4 supercharger spaces being built. Trench is dug anyway and probably wont take long to drop the cabinets in and connect up.

Non-Tesla chargers added to mapping about a month ago. That combined with new waypoints feature is awesome.

Oooh got 2021.44.25.2 overnight, greeted with "Introducing Software Version V11" splash screen, loads of new stuff. A more intuitive, flexible UI. Light Show is cool but could not turn the show up at full volume at 8am this morning 😊. Will try out Sonic the Hedgehog later, take me back to my youth.

Also, they used this update to roll out "Live Sentry View" feature on app (iOS anyway, not sure about Android?) outside of US, works well.

EDIT: and blind spot camera is cool too

Ah lads what the fcuk has gone on with the new update. They've made a balls of it.

Can find nothing now. Can't find the wiper icon. Rear seat heating is through a new menu. They have royally fcuked this up.

Edit...found the wipers. Now you've no wiper icon. You have to click the car icon to bring up a sub menu to get the wipers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,370 ✭✭✭MightyMunster

Or tap the end of the left stalk. Or right scroll wheel and say wipers on/off/faster/slower etc...

All the once touch icons at the bottom of the screen are gone. Why?

Battery percentage at the end of the trip can no longer be found with one swipe down. You've to constantly keep scrolling through all the directions until you get to the end of the trip.

    It's poor.
