Reducing Impact Noise

    I'm wondering if anyone might have any ideas on this issue I have.

    Our house is beside/connected to a busy footpath. When loud walkers go past the impact noise reverberates right up the wall. You can even feel/hear it in the attic room. It's so bloody annoying.

    I'd consider having another wall built in front of the current one on the inside, as the space is there. But that will probably be fairly costly and I'd want to be sure there'd be a significant improvement.

    Any thoughts?

    I don't sorry. The overall construction is shoddy to say the least. I have spotted large bits of wall missing in other parts of the house when up in the attic.

    It's possible thats the same in the front of the house behind the plaster.

    Hi Acosta, noise and acoustic Engineering is a very difficult and specialised profession, and it’s difficult and expensive to reduce air borne or impact noise. I therefore recommend contacting noise experts who must carry out a noise impact assessment, before they will be able to offer you suitable advice. King regards CE.
