Is SATA3 dead?

I was about to pull the trigger on a black Friday cheap SATA SSD when I started thinking was this old tech I was buying? Are there other storage options available to me on a motherboard that has no M.2 slots? Can I get an NVME drive that I can slot in a PCIe slot?

There are, think you ready for this price tag? :D and its overkill for standard user.

If MoBo does not have M.2, with adapter card M.2 runs just fine, using one, however, if its for C:\ drive you need to be sure your board does support boot from PCIe

Depending on what you use PC's for, SATA SSD might be grand for good while

Thanks for the link...originally I thought I had a link for a few hundred euro for a Startech dual M.2 card but now can't seem to find it and I see all the ones I'm getting now are similarly priced to your link, so not sure what I was at. My computer needs are not great but who doesn't want faster, although it's looking fairly like the visible performance increase on SATA SSDs is negligible, so I think I'll hold out for maybe my next mainboard purchase, whenever that is (!), where I see now many are coming with two if not three M.2 slots.
