Got it this evening... Looks nice. Haven't noticed any major changes apart from the visual bits, new icons and pull down menu... Like it so far though

Yep being using the 12 Beta the last few weeks on my Pixel 3a. Also got the official stable release today.

It's very visually appealing. Liking it.

Anybody else's Gmail notifications not working? I'm on a Pixel 4a.

EDIT: Nevermind, seems there is notification settings for Gmail and Mail. Never noticed that before, would have assumed all notifications should show by default.

It's a decent enough upgrade, very clean and quiet zippy, but I don't like the way they bundled data and WiFi together under the same internet option. I also don't like the clocks, hopefully they will bring out more clock widgets soon along with a weather widget, as I preferred the transparent rectangular clock on Android 11.

I actually like the clocks, especially with the animated second hand.

    Here's my home screen.

I had beta from V4 (as told was stable) then was told be here xyz and after waiting many weeks got the "update" (4MB)

As I said in reddit I took the chance to leave the beta testing (without factory resetting) as sick of so many issues for basically a new GUI and then get one of the said issues after getting "stable" (system ui not responding)

Have to say its been a massive let down, especially with the battery getting worse and doesn't seem to improve with "stable", a lot seem to pinning their hopes on 12.1

This is a "must see" video!

    All new Android 12 features.

Seems a huge step backwards. Looks like a child's toy now. Removing existing features?????

"Pill-shaped" pull down quick access to settings, limited to 4 at a glance, only allows max 8 settings. No thanks - looks rubbish, will stick with Android 11 !!

Why Google. Why? Why everytime do you just make a balls of everything.

    Can anyone help?

My notification bubbles are too big. I want to go back to Android 11 style.

The icon showing I'm in silent or vibrate only mode is gone. How do I get it back?

    Thanks

Is anyone having an issue where incoming calls ring and vibrate but the screen doesn't wake up for quite a sizable delay, to the point whoever is calling has usually gone to voicemail or hung up by the time the screen has actually woken up for you to answer?

    Pixel 4a 5g on A12.

Feels a little like a step backwards tbh the design language is horrible imo and doesnt feel as snappy as 11 though that could change. I find the clock widgets are terrible looking too. Unlocking a card for google pay from the lock screen actually takes more steps than just unlocking your phone which is weird for a "shortcut" unless im missing something

Whatsapp bug with Android 12, messages received but no notification tones at all regardless of turning them on in app or on the OS. Contacted Whatsapp after about an hour of trying to sort it, got a fast response to say they are aware of the issue and it will be fixed in the next update.

Is there no way of unlocking directly to the home screen with 1 tap of the fingerprint?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 240 ✭✭lordsheepface

    What do you mean?

My screen is dark. I touch the fingerprint on the back (Google Pixel 4a) and it opens to my home screen and the phone is unlocked. No other button presses needed.

It brings me to a lock screen. Then I have to press unlock.

So on A11 I was able to simple hold the power button to bring up my wallet / cards to perfrom contactless payment on my Pixel5. One handed, very straight forward.

A12 arrived last night. Now it seems i have to peform 2 clicks. Power on and then click the card icon on the bottom right. any way of getting back to just simpley hold the power button?

This version of android is crap, they just keep making it worse.

I was also against a few of the changes regarding payments and access to home control. I've got used to it, though, and I do like the UI.

Are the people who don't like the new way of accessing Google Pay always switching between different cards to pay? If you have your default card set, you just need to unlock your phone and tap, without going in to choose your card....or has that changed?

UI is not great but not the worst, there's a few annoying things they changed on it.

I'm using a pixel 6. Always find it inconsistent with the fingerprint reader deciding if it wants to display or not on the screen lock screen. Sometimes need to tap to get it to show adds to delays for something that's already poorly implemented.

Drag down on the screen when locked to toggle a torch or whatever and you have to unlock it then, but if you drag from the notification bar when locked you don't have to unlock it. Not sure why they would have it like this.

No option to clear defaults such as which browser to use.

On Google Pay, I've seen some people take ages when doing this, it's like they unlock the phone and go and open the app instead of just tapping the thing!

Overall there is less aesthetic customisation compared to previous versions and parts just feel like their in beta.

    Not just me then.

Personal pixel 3 battery life has gone to hell.

Work phone Samsung a21 battery is also crap now too.

How do I change back to android 11 pls?

The battery on my Pixel 4s isn't great anymore either...

100MB or so update yesterday, they've made the wifi and data buttons a little bigger.

I'm having a weird problem... at some stage I turned on Driving Mode, but decided I didn't like it (I use Waze) and turned it off... but every time I turn it off it comes back on again immediately... via the sense driving option...

Now every time I get on a bus, or even sitting still it pops up the option to turn on Driving Mode. It's getting annoying and frustrating. Have tried to fix it in options, AA options and in Maps, but nothing is working... Help
