haven't been on here really this past year, i need to build a computer for my nephew soon i cannot believe the state of getting parts and GPUs why in gods name are they still so hard to get and the prices so big, its seriously not still this covid craic is it

It all relates back to COVID.

Shipping has been impacted massively; however demand has also outstripped supply.

Then you have crypto-mining causing more demand, which caused people to make sophisticated bots to buy up any in-demand item instantly (see also: high-end runners).

And the distributors are also inflating prices because they know shops will pay it.

It might still be possible to buy a machine that's upgradeable.

thanks for the reply, no way its unreal this is still going on wanted a card last year myself and gave up checked every so often but not this while, cards are still like gold dust, have about a grand or so for his build id say just looking for a nice starting pc its his first hes only 11
